New problem: on latest update from today with all the changes - I upgraded my ship 1 level but I cannot get to any beta sector, even thou I can see it on the map? What am I doing wrong?
Have you got enough fuel? I’m not too sure … haven’t ever upgraded my ship!
The game is a lot of fun so far. Still learning to hunt, lol.
You probably need a LOT more fuel. If you don’t have at least 200, I think, you won’t even be able to make a one-way trip.
New update means you can no longer use wood to fuel your ship. Coal baby, coal…
Actually, I never used wood anyway, as it’s just as valuable a resource as coal, maybe even a little more precious…
i can get stacks of wood in minutes… coal however, is much more difficult to acquire…
so much so, that im currently stuck on this crazy bird avian planet…

Perhaps, but once you’ve got a pickaxe, you can basically find it at will.
And believe me, once you run out of wood (no way to plant trees, as far as I know, YET) it becomes a massive pain. Besides that, wood is much less efficient than coal. It’s a 1:1 material:fuel ratio, whereas coal is a 2:1.

Ok, two new questions

My crops are not growing - I’ve planted them and I realize they take a while, but they’ve been around for about 7+ hours (real time, I’m playing a lot…) and none of them have grown at all. I grew plants successfully prior to the latest patch, but I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Is there a secret to plants? Is the new game version broken?

Well… that is quite an anomaly, truth be told… Hmm… Perhaps they need to be near water now? Or have you used a proper hoe? I’m not really sure what else there is to do… Hmm…
Well, I dunno about a proper hoe, but I did notice you have to be physically near the plants for them to grow. Like within the same screen or a few screens of the plant. If you’re far away on the planet or off-planet, they do not grow.

A new new patch? Oh boy! I just picked up Starbound over the weekend (all because of the forums) so I’m just starting to explore. But… pets? I haven’t seen any pets yet! Or instruments. Or… or anything fun! Man, I wish I was at home exploring the universe instead of at work exploring… the office…

im new to the pet idea as well… cant wait to learn more myself! i think i found an electric guitar once… stored it on my ship, and then the game/world was wiped…
exploration is the key though, obviously… and it seems Ty is considering letting you warp to your home world (if you set one) from your transporter, regardless of where your ship is (new menu option)… if they can work out a better compromised on the fuel (or make it easier for me to find enough **** coal) then we’ll be in business! 
It appears they are less so pets and more Pokemon
Update: I HAVE MY FIRST BOUNDIMON!!! (And yes I am aware I just killed a unicorn and I relish the feeling)
