First Steps for Translation

At first get this programs/files:

  1. sublime text - https://www.sublimetext.com/
  2. tkh´s translation helper - Tkh's Translation Helper program (downloadable)
  3. GitHub - stonehearth/startermod_locale: Example mod of adding a new language to stonehearth.

then take the en.json from the stonehearth.smod (its a zip folder and can be opened with winzip etc.). Then make a copy of the taken en.json and rename it to your LCID string format (Language Codes - Sorted by) and translate all with THK translation helper. You can do this with all other mods like rayya etc.

next use this link so you can check if your json is valid: http://jsonlint.com/

last step change the name of the starter_locale.smod to Translation-xx or so ^^ And change the manifest and the added_languages.json to your own language.and add your translated file.

-> FINI ^^

if you want own fonts (mostly possible because the normal font doesnt support extra symbols) - you must override the old ones

here are the string for the manifest:

“overrides” : {
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/autourone/AutourOne-Regular-webfont.eot” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.eot)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/autourone/AutourOne-Regular-webfont.svg” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.svg)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/autourone/AutourOne-Regular-webfont.ttf” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.ttf)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/autourone/AutourOne-Regular-webfont.woff” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.woff)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/grobold/grobold-webfont.eot” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.eot)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/grobold/grobold-webfont.svg” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.svg)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/grobold/grobold-webfont.ttf” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.ttf)”,
“stonehearth/ui/root/css/fonts/grobold/grobold-webfont.woff” : “file(fonts/de-DE/komika_text.woff)”
}

and here is a website to convert fonts into the needed forms: https://onlinefontconverter.com/

Many thanks! I got my localization copy up and running with all the required fonts. First few strings are already translated. Guess I’ll fork Russian translation later (as soon as I understand how it works) - it has some kind of trick that allows using specific fonts for specific locales without the need to add a global game override affecting all.

If i use a language that uses the same letters and stuff i dont have to change the font right? The only thing i need to change is that is redirect the manifest to nl.json instead of en.json and translate everything.
