The Mac version

I tried using the Stonehearth PC folder downloaded from Steam by a method explained in @cookme 's tutorial and tried using both Wineskin Winery (engine 2.6) using the methods explained in this thread as well as Wine Bottler. I followed the instructions (copy folder inside, select stonehearth.exe, etc.) but when I opened up the wrapper I only ever got that error message. I’m using OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite.
thanks

Okay I got it working on my computer, macOS 10.12.4, Wineskin 2.6, Wine 2.6, Alpha 19.
I followed different steps though, what I did:

  1. Install steam in my empty wineskin using the winetricks menu
  2. Install Stonehearth through steam
  3. Switch to the ‘legacy_vista’ branch under the betas tab for Stonehearth in steam.

I didn’t run any other script from the winetricks menu, just steam. You can then edit the wineskin to run the stonehearth exe directly without moving any files to bypass steam. Set Windows EXE to ‘Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Stonehearth/Stonehearth.exe’

AH! Setting to legacy vista in steam was the key. Thanks very much

Hey ayazar,

can you please be more specific on your solution?
I dont understand what you did there. Do i have to create a Steam-wineskin too?

Please explain

I was able to install steam via winetrick menu now.
But how do i open steam then??

When you run your wineskin (by clicking on the icon again), steam should open. From there you’ll be able to install Stonehearth and switch it to the ‘legacy_vista’ branch.

I kinda want to play the game, but I don’t own a windows pc, is this still up to date?

Hello Zapara, but unfortunately Wineskin is no longer compatible with the current Stonehearth, you can play the legacy version if I’m not mistaken with it (see ayazar’s post above for that), but with the current version you’ll need to use bootcamp (Run windows on your mac) or a virtual machine (Runs windows like a program).

If you want to try to do bootcamp, here are the instructions: How to install Windows on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support.

A download for the file you need for it is located here: Download Windows 10.

I hope that helps you be able to play Stonehearth on Mac!
