A Transforming animation?
funny, the Golems Original Design actually was suppose to be a Boulder or a Cube that deploys into the golem, no vines though.

figured it’ll be Impossible to Model that in SV(witch i used to that point)
and i was a bit too lazy

I am planning on a Awaking animation
where it wakes up from being in sleep mod from some fallen apart or squat like state,
no idea how i can use it though, we can’t really set ‘states’ on mobs can we?

I don’t know the game’s limits, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to do it. Maybe some of the programmers here could shed more light on ‘states’

I hope so, we do have a ‘Normal’ state and a ‘Red-Alert’ state for our Hearthlings
we might be able to make a new state like… ‘Dormant’

You could tell it to stand still in “slumber” position until a Hearthling is near it and then have it awaken.

but can we set it to so it’ll do the waking up animation befor chasing or doing anything firs? (i think it’s a yes)

Another idea… You have golem boulders that look like normal boulders from afar, but when they’re picked at by hearthlings, the golem awakens, in an angry state!

The boulder would basically disappear with a big smoke cloud, and when it clears up, the golem model would be in its place in the “slumber” position. Queue sound effects and villagers running for their lives as it seeks vengeance

I tested the Harpy and Golem Animation with @honestabelink

the Golem worked successfully but the Harpy animation was broken, we almost got it fixed but we didn’t really find out a way fully fix it

Since i’v learned a lot of animation skills from the Golem animation works

and i did find out that the game was indeed Running in 24fps animations, witch made the Golem move slower (witch i’m happy with)

i Decided to RE-Animate the whole Harpy

i could make a new post for her or i could just continue here
let me know what you think is right to do

anyways

Expect a delay on bolth the Harpy and Golem release (sorry about that…)
They’ll probably come out at the same time

so… expect some improved Animations for the Harpy and a bit slower Golem

I love the hand clap animation. It’s really great! Perhaps think about making the golem step one foot forward during the animation to counterbalance those wonderful, enormous hands of thunder.

I’d honestly love to do so

but the animation is finished so it’s coded in a very… dense way

if it’s not a simple animation it’s almost making the entire animation again

since you suggestion required a tilt in the pelvis witch is the center pice of the animation movement

that will mean a entire new animation. witch i’m not willing to do again

not to be… mean though

Completely understandable. I wouldn’t imagine you’d have unlimited time to work on such things. It’s amazing and far beyond what I’d be able to produce so demanding such a redo would be absolutely unreasonable. Rigging only needs to look easy in the finished product, which is far from the reality of the production. :wink:

Okay actually it’s not 24fps

it’s… weird…

the golem seems to run in about 26~28fps

but the harpy seems to move in 31~33fps

i figured a good solution

The Swing Animation is finished!
(Thoes Vines… maybe it was a bad idea to make them…)

Thanks to @honestabelink i managed to get a test mod for various animations and mobs

this mod will be avalable when Honest flushes out all the complexity and makes it more easier to setup and edit

this animation is quick to give it a more light feeling because it’s a relatively week attack

This is the only one for today!

i’ll get off to sleep! (and will be back)

Edit: turns out that the recording is wrong, it’s way slower then that, but is still relatively fast

I think the attack animations should have some kind of step added or movement of the feet. The weight shift would mean it’d have to re balance itself no ? So for example. Giants in skyrim take small halfsteps and leg movements. First Encounter with a Giant - SKYRIM. as an example. i think it looks a bit odd that it’s feet are firmly planted into the ground.

i’d love to, but my animation skills aren’t good enough to keep a stady body motion while having a moving base

the slam animation has a slight backstep, but even thats a bit odd looking

I would love it if a hearthling went flying after this attack and exploded into blood with whatever it impacts but alas we lack someone with the programming skills :confounded:
