I think it works pretty well stretched out and filled with tribesmen; they could have TWICE the amount of tribesmen and their unsuspecting enemy wouldn’t see it coming.
There were some building pieces in the full tribe picture in the first post; they were in small size towards the right side. I’ve been reworking a lot of the stuff into a more “advanced” tribal setting to better fit the new classes and what not; while still trying to maintain the tribal theme.
Here are the new simple hut designs; they include place able windows, door frame, and optional leaf canopy so far. I’m still trying to work out some new roof designs to fit on them and more doors/windows. I also have to figure out how to multi-story and fort like structures for defense.
Updated first post with tons of stuff; but then I forgot to get the bone fence and the wooden pipe from inside the Pikken fight for the full tribe image so here they are.
Wow, this thread is amazing! I’ll keep stalking this thread and I wish you the best of luck coding it all in the game
Coding it in shouldn’t be too much of a hassle, as its essentially just replacing and revaluing things, with the exception of stuff like Pikken breeding.
On another note, the leaf canopy is a nice touch. could you try making a leaf canopy roof for on of the huts and seeing how that looks? My only fear is that the texture will be a pain and probably won’t work though…
I’m getting pretty good at subtle leaf textures I think it worked pretty well on the raft so I’ll definitely try it for the hut; I think the hut roof might even be the same size as the raft.
Luckily for me that’s not my part of this project haha. All I have to do is keep cranking out models and eventually figure out how to animate them better.
I think I finally got the huts where I want them; it only took like 5 designs? Haha.
Those look nice, but I think the wood is a bit too dark. Maybe.
It just doesn’t feel tribal to me. Also, instead of a furnace with a chimney, how about a fire pit in the center of the hut, and a hole in the roof? That, in my opinion, would give off a more tribal look. It may be hard to see model wise, but in game walls and such will be transparent anyways.
They’ll only be transparent if you toggle that on otherwise they’ll be regular walls when you want them to be as well. But I can see the wood going too dark I used the same woods from my raft color map; I’ll probably have a couple variants of colors for the different kinds of woods. The stone chimney thing is going to be more towards the further end of their “tech tree” it is in fact made to stick right through the center of the building I had a hole there but I filled it in for the standard leaf roof.
More roofs; changed the wall as the more I watch these building live streams I realize that the “texture” of a wall needs to be scalable to all shapes and sizes.
For the tiered roof, could you make the leaf extend further down towards the flat part? It feels oddly “naked” (if any of that made any sense…)
Damn you @Paranundrox get out of my head. Haha.
It’s all fixed now and a new color even lighter ( @RoseyNineOneOne ) and with brand new trees! Jungle trees for them to get all those giant leaves from.
Looks good. I assume the roof of that barn-like building is made of thick reeds?
Are Bamboo reeds? Lol. Because it’s supposed to be bamboo.
New roof and large fortress like building with stairs.
Looks like it would be more fitting in a desert than a jungle.
Is it because of the skin roof? There was too much green going around lol.
Well that, but it also looks like its made from mud bricks, not wood.
