Pepe's little voxel & board game corner :]

@Pepe i will totally buy the plaque and sword when i have some spare cash will you be making it available and if so ( or regardless ) what would overall costs be like? i have heard of and seen 3D printing but i have no idea of what the costs are like anyway looks positivly awesome <3

Great work @Pepe.

I’m looking forward to someone writing the shaders necessary to get the entire game rendering like those printed models :slight_smile:

Wow, great work Pepe. Already looks awesome in the screenshot, but the printed ones are magnificent.

Might be difficult seeing as it is rendered in a professional movie and games industry program with over a decade and millions spent on “perfecting” it.

Hiya @Wilderkitty I’m not sure what you mean by:

it is rendered in a professional movie and games industry program

I was referring to using some simple multi texturing and randomisation in a shader to blend in the wear-and-tear like effects that @Pepe has on his painted models.

It’s unlikely that we’ll be allowed to change the shaders, sounds very much like engine stuff. We could tweak the colors on a model to try and simulate it somewhat but that would probably be the limit.

you are probably correct, but i could swear i recall a reference to changing shaders in the modding video…

Those look very nice!

Ooh this is so cute : ) And Awsome.
I will also start printing my monsters, heros and citys soon. The new age of 3D printing is just great! : )
Monster from myblog!

I will go for the Mindblower monster that I just finished.
( these 3 renders are all from Marmoset Toolbag. Great render program)

Hi!! all your work it’s an inspiration for the comunity!! keep up the good work Pepe!!! BTW are you spanish?? Pepe it’s a spanish name :stuck_out_tongue:

Apart from that i’ve a question for you, it looks that you know a lot about the QC, soooo, do you know how can i make the voxels semi-transparent?? so when i make glass i can see through it, (without making the cubes look totally invisible). Or to do that i need some rendering in another program??

@Raistlin - sadly you can’t do that in Qubicle itself as of right now, maybe in the future but not currently. As it stands you’d need to have any voxels you want to be transparent as a seperate matrix and then modify the material in a seperate 3D program like max. I haven’t yet tried to do this but it should be relatively simple.

Well, this is amazing, I love the 3D prints. I myself have access to a 3D printer and I’m dying to make some 3D pixel art and print it out, then paint it. Sadly I don’t have the money to buy the paid version of QC and thus I cannot export to my 3D printing program. Oh well, I’ll just have to wait until a free voxel editing program comes along.

@Pepe

The Green-Knight looks epic!

You are correct, but i believe Tony talked about the ability to code a custom shader and add it as a mod.
If memory serves correctly, he did not seem very optimistic that it would work tho.
Oh, and btw, gratz on moderator status :wink:

@Tom @Ponder @sdee congrats on the successful funding! now i’m flattered, thanks so much for the kind words in the livestream about my stuff! much appreciated and i’m very thankful as you have give me this awesome playground! :] in regards of making 3d voxel models there is nothing specific planed but i will see where this work will take me… :slight_smile:

@SteveAdamo tons of new stuff but i have to see what i can share right now… working intensively on the board game idea!

@wminsing thx, awesome! plz PM me if you find the time i can’t wait to hear your ideas on the tabletop game!

@brendan_ms @Corpc @Rudy @Miturion @EpicDwarf thanks a lot folks! :]

@BanditDragoon yeah right now 3d printing is still pretty expensive. you can check www.shapeways.com to have an idea on the price range. atm it makes sense to do the prototyping as 3d-print and then made some molds to cast the parts in resin. i will let you know if i will make some progress in this direction.

@michael_stenmar awesome, yeah 3d printing is coming for sure, not in all branches but it’s coming! can’t wait to see the mindblower 3d printed mate, great sculpt!

@Raistlin thanks a lot, no i’m not spanish i only have a spanish nickname… haha :] about the semi-transparent voxels: funny you ask, because i did ask the same thing the minddesk developer a while ago and he told me that there was an option once to do this but it didn’t look as cool as you might have imagined it, so he canceled this feature and it won’t be available in the near future as well… but you can do this in max3ds or blender for sure.

@Gamer36 thx, looking forward to the editor as well and can’t wait to see your prints then!

more QC and 3D stuff soon, stay tuned folks! :]

Me too, I love a good board game when theres a powercut or when my gf gets overly competitive

Could you please send me the 3ds Max or Maya exports? I might be able to do some fancy animations with it…

I would like that too. But I don’t think he is going to do that. Because it takes hours of hard work just to get it to look that clean and polished. But then again he might relese the files after the beta is out for us all to use. Pepe like to share his work with other people.

i will join too ^^ whats the conditions? and where the hell i can buy this tiny sword? AHHHH :smiley:
