Have you stopped working on it @Pepe? 'Cause I haven’t seen any updates in a while.
Wow just wow you are amazing!
paging @Pepe … and all the other 3D printer aficionados out there… a pretty stellar (from the sound of it) KS campaign is underway… thought you might be interested!
some more detail on the printer…
Hey ho, how’s going my dear Stonehearthlings!
Still can’t believe this, but it’s over a year ago i last posted here!!! I was always lurking and do follow the development of SH closely but didn’t find time to post stuff. Some of you early folks might still know me but for the rest of you i must look like a stranger who resurrect a 229! days old topic without any good reason! hahaha…
Well what happened in the meantime on my side… a lot! But in the end i’m still the same old guy. Oh and i will become dad for the second time soon, yay! Now i guess the question you’re dying to ask will be: Does this guy still work on that 3d-printable voxel board game idea…?! Hellyeah, i certainly do! ^____^
I’m working almost every free minute (means nighttimes) on this game and it’s taking great shape. There is so much work involved in this project so it took me and my co-designer quite a while to get to the point where we are right now. As we’ll release the first Beta version of the game by ourself and have no pressure from a publisher, our motto was always to take whatever time we need to create the most fun game we could think of. The game is still under development but fully playable and play tested over hundred times. We’re still working on the last balancing flaws, designing the final monster cards and are in the middle of writing a solid rule booklet. Here’s a short summary of what this board game is all about:
QUBLAR is a 3D-printable board game where you will terraform and create with modular terrain pieces a complete new board in each game. Gather five different elements to expand your kingdom as powerful Elemental-Lord and summon unique 8-bit monsters. Hire your very own unbeatable warband from a large pool of creatures and heroes to fight with tactical combats over land, elements & glory!
The QUBLAR [Core-Set] will be available as a free downloadable “3D-Print-to-Play” game! All the game components & figures can be printed at your own desktop 3d-printer. If you don’t own a 3d-printer yourself you might ask a geeky friend or go trough a 3d-printing services to get your copy of the game. We are hard working to make your wildest 8-bit dreams come true in form of a tense and fun board game! :]
Now i’m a bit lost where i should start or what i should show you about my game so i think i’ll drop just a few pictures of some recent play tests and some 3d-printed figures to give you an idea of what i’m talking here. If i’ll find some time i will add more infos/pics over the next few weeks. Yeah and one more thing, this board game is not directly related to Stonehearth except of also being based on voxels and shares a similar style. But to be clear, this game would never exist without the influence & inspiration of SH, the great team behind it and you folks here on these forums, the most amazing and supportive guys web-wide!! So a huge thanks to all of you!!
Playtest time! :] the board, figures and cards are still prototypes, no final design
My “Time Hexer” (lil’ pink fairy) tries to hold the lines!
A box full of fun! ^____^
A small warband surrounded by “Force Star” token.
“Time Hexer” hoarding some treasures on my desk! :]
“Ice’n’Berg” ready for battle! (early card art rendering)
cheers

I joined this Discourse a while ago, saw this, thought it was awesome, and then saw you go apparently extinct. I believe I speak on the behalf of the entire Discourse [or, at least, the Discourse that was around back then, before SH went public on Steam EA] when I say
It’s great to have you back!
Not only is it great to have you back, as @coasterspaul said, but these models are seriously fantastic! I remember you made some awesome stuff and I’m glad to see it’s still working out for you! When (if) I get a 3D printer I will buy the heck out of this product! Glad to have you back, at least for a little while!

HeyHo Pepe! Its great to have you back
Im se free to post the link to your Website here
Great to see your return @Pepe!
Hiya @Pepe I was wondering when you’d come back to the light side I’m super excited to hear that your board game is still going good.
Welcome back my friend
Welcome back @Pepe
This looks awesome the game looks to have changed character a bit since last time but it is still awesome
@coasterspaul thanks, yeah it seems this place is much more crowded since steam release… which is good, but also tricky to catch all the fancy stuff besides bug reports.
@Spoolicus thanks a bunch! if you don’t get yourself a 3d-printer in the near future there will also be the option to print a set at a 3d-hub or trough a 3d-printing partner of ours. Also the starter set with 10 figures and all the game components will be always available as free download to print as often as you like without spending any money ^___^
@Wiese2007 danke! :] yeah the qublar website is still one big construction site and a lot of content will be changed added over the next few weeks.
@Newf @TurtleSquish @Pandemic @thorbjorn42gbf thanks a lot for the warmth welcome back my dear SH and Minecraft fellows!
UPDATE:
Here’s a little sneak peek to keep things going. I also will have another playtest round tonight, can’t wait to test one specific new mechanic we have in mind with a special board tile. Stay tuned!
If you need some play testers at some point btw i could try it
Thoug probably with paper and not super duper aweome figures.
@thorbjorn42gbf thanks for the offer! i was indeed thinking of doing a print-to-play version later on but one of the really unique game ideas/mechanics will be pretty hard to transform from 3d into 2d… i hopefully will find a good solution for this issue.
UPDATE:
The playtest session was great and we had some interesting discussions about the fluff/story behind the game. I was always very fond that having a good background story helps to create a more immersive game experience… but to be honest i’m pretty bad a writing stories. I remember there were some awesome ideas coming from some of you guys in for the character bio’s a year ago, so i might get back to you guys later on. :]
Here are a few recent 3d-printed figures for our board game. All designs are based on a simple 2-part concept to allow printing of detailed figures without the need of a dual extruder/support material.
How do you paint the figures to look to great? Seriously they look amazing ^^
Also welcome back =D
welcome back my friend! you have been sorely missed! and wow, congratulations!!
this is just so cool, on so many levels… I never forgot about your project, and would visit your website from time to time… always had faith in ya, and this looks absolutely brilliant!
can’t wait to see/hear more from ya brother…
if things work out for me this summer, and i manage to get a good gaming PC, then i’ll see if i have enough cash to spare to get a 3D printer. i don’t even need a 3D printer, except that i need one, just so i can get this awesome game.
Looking great pepe.
@chimeforest thanks a bunch! Well, i needed to get the hang of it first as well… painting pixelated 3d-figures is a tad strange since the common miniatures are modeled completely different. But in the end it’s just applying a base tone, paint some parts with a slightly darker wash to give the design the depth, adding details and do the finishing touches by highlighting the edges with a bright tone.
@SteveAdamo Steve!! aww missed ya as well, great to see you’re still holding the lines here! :] Thanks for the congrats and the cheering words, means a lot. Will try to keep you guys in the loop and post from time to times an update on my board game.
@8BitCrab LOL! Yeah a 3d-printer might be one of these gadgetry you think you don’t really need, but in the end you truly need one! Well maybe not right now but pretty soon! ;D Btw totally dig your nickname! :)))
@Miturion thanks mister! I’ll get back to you in a moment… :]
UPDATE:
Y’day night we finally wrote a little background story about the universe of Qublar and it’s inhabitants… i think the story is pretty fun and fits right into the game theme we have developed so far. Need to translate this first but will share when we’re done. I also preparing all the 3d-files for printing the game with enough tolerance. As it is important that the different tiles and token do fit into each other even if you would print the game components on a 3d-printer with a slightly rougher printing resolution.
Also still trying to tackle down the rules… this will take quite some time as it seems but it’s really one of the most important parts of a board game. Without more or less solid written rules we can’t release. Now enough talk, let’s dig out some pics:
A large Warband with some terrifying monsters… ;]
Prepping a small test batch file
…Yeah and of course i’m still pushing tons of voxels around in Q2 to create new chaps! :]
gotta tell ya @Pepe, the more information you provide, the more intrigued I become… really can’t wait to see how this all comes together…
if you need any sort of proofing, or just want another set of eyes to gloss over any content cough background lore cough, look no further …
