Minecraft meet up!

Well…I never actually finished my factory that just automatically produced HV Solar Arrays (like the best power generator other than nuclear (which we also had, in my configured setup)) but I had the maths for most of the piping down, it was just I could never log to complete it which was a shame because it actually took a butt ton of brain pain :crying_cat_face:

Server down agian…
:sob:

In the mean time, if you have the 1.5.2 client, come join me on Dwarves VS zombies while we wait

I too knew pretty much everything for tekkit classic with the exception of the RP2 computer stuff which I never learnt. I once even got my brother to help me build a HV Solar producer, unfortunately due to bugs with teleport pipes and servers it couldn’t be built quite as easily as hoped. It was quite large too, although we didn’t build it till after our mass fabricator factory got griefed and destroyed. I’ve designed some pretty hefty things after all, none quite so powerful as the EMC Farm of Doom. Most people were aware of the blaze rod farms, some are aware of a few other ways of doing it well, I however discovered two that I could not find via google signs of exploitation, I could find analysis of best ways of doing something but it hadn’t been exploited as far as I could tell.

How the farm worked though was by exploiting the metal chest imbalance - there are two ways to produce each metal chest, the emc value is always the cost of the more expensive one - however under normal automation systems this fails to match the emc produced by a good blaze rod farm as it’s only viable when done on a large scale and the auto crafting benches can only craft one at a time. However if you’re willing to deal with the extra complexity of turtles you can craft a stack at a time. Each gold chest can make you 5460 emc, a stack makes 349440, you can repeat that as fast as they can pump in and out items, you should be able to get at least once every few seconds I can’t remember the exact numbers but I know that as you increased the turtles it very quickly became unimaginably huge. A single chunk could produce - given some lowish estimates - about a stack of RM a second. At high end estimate that could be closer to 20 stacks a second. I never actually built a large one as it had one fatal drawback - ignoring the major drawback of being really hard to build - the technic team is stupid, they left computer craft at 1.33 instead of updating to 1.4 which is what’s required to use turtles that can craft. 1.4 works fine with tekkit it’s just that for some reason it’s not used, annoying really as it’s what made the robots actually useful for stuff.

EDIT: I swear I didn’t type that much! I only meant to give a little reply saying how we should get a server with tekkit classic going. Not this huge thing.

A thought from something that just came up on the server, who would want a faction plugin to have actual factions? It would allow for the supposed faction wars and factions to work alot better if you could easily tell who was in them or have the permissions from factions to make it safer to build a base for them and avoid griefing and the like.

a collaboration could be arranged. i like building stuff

My plans were to just start on a palace/castle forged from quartz and obsidian taken from the heart of hell itself, just build rooms and towers and stuff and it will gradually start to look good and probably somewhat like a cartoon villians castle with towers coming off everywhere and perched on top of a hill. I haven’t got a portal to the nether yet though as I haven’t gone looking for diamonds, I’ll probably combine it with my mob farm creation (what kind of cartoon villians lair doesn’t have a self destruct switch - that or the piles of skulls). I swear I didn’t have an ulterior motive in collecting huge amounts of ink, it’s not like it could be used to fake obsidian or anything. An underground sugar farm so as to create sweets (read cakes and pumpkin pies) to lure vict- to gift to the visitors.

I should be able to hop on in a few ours so once I finish the squid farm (currently it’s a large water filled pit) I’ll get started on a proper mine so I can actually build that nether portal I’ve been wanting.

I’m on right now working on my original project a vast multi-lvl underground temple but definitely interested in an epic castle thingy. Sounds awesome and fun

If it’s below the treehouse be careful you don’t spread towards my hut too much, you might encounter my mineshaft or even my squid farm which could result in major flooding for you.

well so far so good, i had made a small start on it before and even with the work i’ve put in now it still seems to have missed your mineshaft thus far. finger crossed it stays that way

Should be fairly easy to spot from the surface, it’s dirt hut with a wooden door, a glass roof and a 70block drop just inside. There can’t be that many of them. It’s also in a mysteriously tree deficient are of the jungle, I had nothing to do with that though, those 11 huge tress were gone when I got there.

lol of course those trees were all gone. I had a little look down the mineshaft, almost fell to my death. Its been my underground digging thats had me alittle worried but no issues yet and i doubt there will be now

well, assuming i can connect (using the super secret “previous version” method), i’ll be visiting for a bit this evening… cant wait to see all the effort you all have poured into this…

want to try my hand at paintball too…

if all goes well, maybe 7PM CST? i think thats pretty late for you… i’m airlifting some Reb Bull to you as we speak…

Probably about midnight/ 1am time.

I’m in bed by 9pm so … maybe another night!

Very nice! I hadn’t heard of that one either…

I set up a system that I also had not seen on the internet. It used Redpower and it was ingenius. All it was, was breaking gravel with block breakers and then if it stayed as gravel, sending it back through and replacing it, but if it turned to flint (about a 25% chance if I remember rightly), transposing it, using the excess EMC to create 1 more gravel to then replace the one that had become flint and then give the remaining EMC to me to turn to red matter. Lewis and I (Lewis being the friend I always played with (it was his server, for the two of us )) set it all up and it looked pretty cool if you ask me, very neat and we’d never actually seen one made so we were pretty damn pleased with ourselves.

Then we discovered a problem, the reason why it wasn’t on the internet and the reason I was sadly not ingenius: flint and gravel have the same EMC of 4. At this point we were just adding the finishing touches so at least weren’t waiting around asking what the hell was going on, but I was pretty bitterly disappointed. I honestly don’t really see why gravel does get an EMC of 4 (my mistake had been I had assumed it would be of 1), if sand is worth 1 then so should gravel be.

:crying_cat_face:

Another sneaky one I haven’t seen anywhere, nowhere near as as effective as all of the metal chests but still pretty good. A basic sensor from the CC modmod requires 3 redstone, 7 sticks, and 1 cobblestone, that’s 221 emc, it has no emc value though. However for some unknown reason when smelted it produces 4 iron worth 256 emc each. That’s about 360% profit making it useful to get you started on an alternative method of awesome like the chests. Seriously, they just require glass, wood, and the metals but if you do it manually they outpace everything, blaze rods are hard to find but still seem the defacto solution for some reason. Probably because a macerator condensor combo is easier than a recipe with 3 ingredients.

If you wanted little ways like the gravel though you should just used something like collecting infinite water or the like. I’m pretty sure there was a slight imbalance with snow as well.

Ah but the big thing here is which looks cooler  and although I make that point in a slightly non-serious way, I actually believe it, space may be an issue but you can always almost always dig deeper and as for generation speed, I don’t much care for it. I mean, when I have a chest full of red matter, I can’t honestly see the need in too much more. And if I do, it’ll make some more, all systems are fast enough that I can wait for them. So a huge part in all systems for me is making them look cool in a mad scientist kind of way.

That’s another pretty sweet system though. Bit random (with the products from smelting) but pretty good. I know it isn’t Tekkit, but I wonder what systems you could create in Yogcraft…the addition of Thaumcraft suddenly adds the ability to transmute certain metals and there’s plenty of other turning stuff into other things…allows for a whole plethora of potential systems. Although I’m not sure if EE wasn’t updated, which might ruin them a bit. Even so, if anyone comes up with something, I’m keen to hear

Yeah EE2 never got updated and EE3 is nowhere near done. I quickly googled the mod list though and while you might be able to do something it would be a lot harder as most of the mods are automation mods which don’t lend themselves well towards it, it’s the intersection of multiple mods that generally causes the exploit so you’d likely have to co check how much the thaumcraft conversion mechanics affect different things.

Oh my god I wanna be part of the build team
