Getting to know one another

Hahaha you are one of those:

My wife wasn’t really a gamer, but her brothers are (much more so than me). She occasionally enjoyed playing videogames with them growing up. When we first got married, she didn’t really want them at all, but she loves me and she realized that video games are how I relax so she stopped minding me playing them as long as I didn’t let them push out the important things like her and our children. I’ve invited her to play with me several times over the years and I’ve always tried to keep an eye out for games she might like that we can play together. I wouldn’t say that I’ve coaxed her into anything, though.

I was thoroughly surprised when in the last couple of years, she started asking to play games with me. I think she saw how we’d spend time together, but then I’d never have time to play video games. We played Secret of Mana together and she loved the chance to play cooperatively with me. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find other games to play.

Competitive games usually don’t work, most ā€œcasualā€ games are single player or not fun for long, cooperative games like Left 4 Dead would never fly since neither of us are really into zombie slaying or FPS games, and we both have too many other responsibilities to get sucked into MMOs. If anyone has any suggestions for 2+ player, cooperative games that have the same kind of start-stop capabilities as traditional console games, (and also lack profanity, gore, or explicit sexual references) I’d love to know about them.

@xophnog
sadly the only game I know would be MineCraft… paulsoaresjr shows on his channel YouTube quite well how it can work, as he plays not just with his wife but with his kids as well.

nooo! ok folks… my apologies, but it seems we have officially been invaded, and i fear it is all my fault… game over…

pack up your gear and head home… @Keystone will now begin to methodically tear this place apart, pixel by pixel…

Hey guys, im here all the way from Australia! Saw the game pop on youtube and have got behind it as soon as i could, looks similar to the kind of style i enjoy!

At the moment im getting around games including skyrim, anno2070 and other RTS. Also enjoy the creativity involved with minecraft.
Looking forward to the game!

@Keystone now, we’ve had this discussion before, havent we mister? if one doesnt take care of one’s current toys, how does one expect to receive new toys?

Hence why it’s humorous Geoffers. Of course a German would be obsessed with building a mofoingly huge castle!

I don’t know that I want to buildi a castle explicitly in my settlement… I think I’d more go the Roman approach and just build a freaking huge circuit wall around my entire city and dare anything to march against my legion.

edit: Idk why it would cause offense to anyone, but I don’t mean to pick on Germans. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay! we’rd glad to have you, and it’s nice knowing that youtube is having such a great effect! Wish it happened earlier in the KS though

at the current 363%, trending towards 465% of their original funding goal, i cant imagine much more this campaign could have brought in… but i think it all worked out far better than radiant could have ever dreamed…

the initial monumental success, followed by this impressive second wind surge from youtube…

im curious to know if they have plans for additional folks to bolster the ranks, or if they intend to remain a 3 person team…

I’m 32, and graduated with a computer engineering degree almost a decade ago, (dang I’m getting old). From the US, and currently work in the IT field fixing server related issues.

When I am outside, i am an avid paintball player, and have been for over nearly 20 years. Recently i have been playing Towns, Terraria, GW2, WoT.

Games I am waiting for: Planetary Annihilation, and Stonehearth.

I think if they would have started it within the first 5 days of the KS it could have reached a larger audience. If the youtubers played it, and then it ruffled enough feathers, it could have been featured on major gaming sites, etc. etc., carrying massive amounts of momentum throughout the KS. But we can’t know for sure if that would have been better because it didn’t happen. I am also very happy with the results of the KS so far, I just think this game is gold and I want as much support as possible.

Yes we have lots of great castles in Germany - because of this the most German folks love Castles

But my question is: Why are American people also such interested on Castles? There was never one Castle in America, only big Forts and Prisons

We do too have castles!?

To be fair, several of these ā€œcastlesā€ are nothing more than European-style mansions, but nevertheless, there are undoubtedly numerous buildings which fit the ā€œcastleā€ motif.

castles [magnificent mansions, palaces] -> Schlƶsser {pl}archi.
castles [fortified, esp. of the medieval period] -> Burgen {pl}archi.hist.

Ok there is an little problem in the translation for castles^^

you have right the most are only mansions and not the castles that i mean - because while the colonization this period was long time ago in europe because of the gunpowder

but i must say the Castello-di-Amorosa and Fox River Grove Castle are very great

Hi xophnog, For co-op i would recommend most of Tales series, e.g. Tales of Vesperia, Grace f (on Both Xbox & PS3)

for PC i would recommend Orc Must Die 2 (Tower Defense genre game).

i had a blast but its with my mate, my wife would only play facebook game…

Well for what its worth, Australia doesnt really have any huge castles…we have rather large rock formations that are appealing to the eye, or we have beaches haha

Thanks for reading this massive paragraph

Well since I come here every day now maybe I can do a presentation as well… I cannot write in few words, so a small Wall of Text incoming.

I’m from Sweden, 33 years young and spend most of my time taking care of the family (mostly the kids, 2&4 years old), house and those things. I work as an electrical engineer during daytime, and when the kids are asleep I try to play as much as I can. I like music as well (play some guitar), and was rather skilled in Guitar Hero. Before the kids I also played a lot of football (soccer for some of you  ).

Grew up with NES and Amiga500, loved games like Sim City & Settlers back in those days. Played a lot of Transport Tycoon on the PC era, and can still enjoy a little OTTD from time to time. Played too much WoW, and not enough Skyrim, and also a lot of Minecraft. Played it in beta, took a break after release, and discovered it again after all good mod packs came out. I really hope that we can see an even better mod world in SH!

I learned Minecraft from @paulsoaresjr in the beta maybe two years ago, thanks for that Paul. So it is quite fun to see him here as well

I found SH by conicidence on Kickstarter one day after start and I fell in love directly. It is actually the first game I have backed there. Really looking forward to it! Some time ago I started uploading some things to Youtube (link here) as well, and I will probably do it for SH as well if we are allowed to.

If you have read this far I’m impressed, thanks for reading in that case
