Getting to know one another

@Omnus Nope… Picture Squad is at least not me ^^ not to mention I use the same AV over at Youtube

20 y/o male from the netherlands here, currently studying chemistry, and specializing in nanotechnology next year. Games i like are Starcraft 2, Terraria, Supreme Commander, Diablo and Vindictus (Though i utterly hate the publisher). Also played minecraft for a lengthy amount of time, but not in the recent months. Knowing my games isn’t knowing me though. The music i listen is Metal with some sidesteps to rock, my favorite band is soilwork (this is also where my avatar is from, gosh he’s cute <3).

24/M/US Graduating this summer with a BA in History. Recently been playing: LoL, Skyrim, Minecraft, DF. I love everything about DF except the UI…which is why I’m so excited for Stonehearth (I’ve given up on any hope that Toady would fix the DF UI :\ ) . Stonehearth looks like the DF I always wanted, albeit a little simpler…at the moment.

23 Southern Californian (not LA, that dump >_>). Graduated in nothing, except high school, maybe I should take classes sometime. Always been interesting in programming but I am not really good at learning things on my own. Lived in New York for a stint, professional cleaner. Carpets, windows, upholstery, vomit, blood, mustard (the worst carpet stain you could get), wax, you name it, I could clean it.

Until I moved back to California. Now I do yard maintenance.

Grew up on Ultima, Space Quest, Monkey Island, Pirates, Civilization, ect. Still love those games. I was a big fan of the PS1 and PC, JRPGS, Half Life, ect. Also a fan of some MMOs, Ultima Online, and Tibia were two I spent most of my time on. My favorite game series has been the Elder Scrolls though, just because I love the massiveness and the lore.

Also spent some time on Dwarf Fortress, although I could never really get the hang of it. When I heard of a Dwarf Fortress style game with awesome art style with some FFT elements and other awesomeness I had to check it out. First project I ever kickstarted. Totally looking forward to this game. Haven’t looked forward to a game this much since Fable >_> I think this game actually has a chance to deliver though.

Hey all! I’ll be 30 This year. From the sunshine state of Florida. When I’m not brewing beer, I’m more than likely playing video games. Games such as Skyrim (all Elder Scrolls for that matter), Minecraft, Dayz/Warz, Path of Exile, etc. The list could go on forever so I’ll forego mentioning all of them. Looking forward to this game and so glad I put down $30 for the early beta access and additional key. Can’t wait to start raiding your cities!!!

Hi. I am 39 and in Pennsylvania.

As for game experience, I am a retired, long-term veteran of Final Fantasy XI; currently enjoying Minecraft and Timber and Stone. This game looks fantastic, I love where it seems to be headed with building aspects on top of a dynamic class system. Can’t wait to see where this leads us.

hey there @Septimus … welcome aboard…

do you go by the same name on the T&S forums?

Good day to all. 33 year old Nuclear Engineer here that like to dabble in real life Blacksmithing. Haven’t been playing much in the way of games lately since I cant find that game to real sink into, so I started making up my perfect game (just ideas atm in a 20 page word doc) that was like FF Tactics, Stronghold, and an Anno game wrapped into one with a medieval setting and high magic. But since my programing skill are mainly in Fortan its always been a pipe dream to make a game.

Been looking for the perfect game that I could mod into what I’ve always wanted and ill be damned if Stonehearth didn’t just come along with almost all the thing I wanted in my own game… nice serendipity there. Really looking forward to the game and creating some of my own mods since this will be the perfect platform for me.

Yes I do, just started posting there a few days ago even though I have had the game for a while now.

And I go by Septimus or some variation thereof pretty much everywhere.

ahh, well… good to know… i’ll keep an eye out for you over there…

That’s because Minecraft isn’t a game. It is a medium for making art. Is possibly becoming a tool for making games, but it isn’t a game itself.

About myself, I’m 30+ with family and kids. I’m working on my Ph.D. in Physics (though I’ve never seen “the Big Bang Theory”). I grew up on Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, and the like. Got into JRPGs when somebody gave my family an SNES. (Never learned who.) Was there for their absolute golden age (Final Fantasy 6, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Chronotrigger). Loved Starcraft and Age of Empires II. Enjoyed (and continue to poke around in) Minecraft with family. Lately, I’ve been playing Secret of Mana, FTL, and League of Legends.

I’d call myself a casual gamer, as my hardware will attest. I love a game that can tell a good story and provide some really engaging game play. Lately I’ve been looking for games to play with my wife. She loved playing Secret of Mana with me, but we’ve struggled to find other games that allow for the same kind of cooperative, casual play.

When I saw Stonehearth through Steam Greelight, I said, “There just might be the game I’ve been looking for.” I’m so excited that we reached the $400K mark to ensure coop mode and I cannot rave about the art design enough.

yet another soare-viver… welcome aboard!

interesting take on minecraft. I disagree with the idea that it isn’t a “game”, but the argument would likely devolve into what defines a “game”, proving once again that the term “game” (as well as “gamer”) is outdated (I prefer “interactive artistic medium” but that’s a mouth full).

But I will also say that even as a mode for artistic expression, I still find minecraft decisively lacking.

It’s just my opinion. I know lot’s of people think it’s incredible and I’m fine with that.

You call yourself a casual gamer? You must be referencing the number of hours you play on average, because I don’t see a “casual” game in your list!

I haven’t thought about trying to get my gf into this game… she games on occassion but isn’t really into it, so I’m always looking into ways to get her into it more. Tell me, was your wife always a gamer or did she pick up the hobby as your relationship grew? If so, did you do anything to “coax” her into it? lol.

lololololol something hilarious about a german making a huge castle… don’t know what, hahahahaha.
