I’m not sure if this is meant to go under gameplay, or development, or where, but here goes. this is basically a bug-test/etc of the update to quickly check for bugs and such in the way of common gameplay.
so in my playthrough I decided I wasn’t gonna mess with making custom buildings. I’ve already gained too much of a headache trying to do that. just the default buildings and some roads and such. and fences, and crates, everywhere. good god, I never thought I’d be trying to craft 200 objects of anything so quickly, yet here I am getting my carpenter to level 6 in 3 days by making him craft tons and tons of fences and small crates. turns out crates are a pain to manage. who knew. especially when you line up 2 sets of 2x11x3 small crates, each one holding only food and plants. this was for my farm, and the farm is where I discovered my 1st issue - having more than 1 farmer is pointless. the 2 farmers try to harvest different plants, but then when 1 of them finishes harvesting first, the other farmer will drop what they’re doing to hoe the ground the other farmer just cleared. so even though I was struggling trying to get food so I could get more hearthlings, the farmers simply would not do their own work. I did notice that with only 1 farmer, they will harvest 3 items before putting the items down, and THEN they will hoe the ground, before going back to harvesting. likely, the farmer AI prioritizes hoeing the ground over harvesting, but only if the farmer doesn’t have anything in their inventory. this causes multiple farmers to be useless as they almost harvest a crop just to turn around and till the ground the other farmer was just on.
I saw that compassion did something with shephards, and I set a hearthling with 5 str and 6 faith as my hunter right off the bat to upgrade into my shephard. and… um… wow.

the sheep really, really love her.
I thought that compassion would increase the number of sheep a small amount, like a compassion of 6 would allow 6 sheep, but this is just ridiculous

sheep. sheep, everywhere.
that square with the house and unfinished fencing is the shephard’s hut and grazing grounds, and that crate monstrosity in the background is the farm. as you can see, I had to disable the other 4 plots of land because the farmers weren’t gathering any food even though I set 2 farmers. 1 farmer could take care of 4 plots relatively easily, so 2 farmers should be able to deal with 8, even if not perfectly. but as it was, they couldn’t handle it at all. also, farmers don’t put anything in the stockpile, leaving a mess everywhere. which makes my stockpiles in the farm kind of stupid and pointless, but hey, I love crates lol.
messing with the filters on crates were a nightmare. an utter nightmare.
now, this might just be because I got lucky with quests and got a bronze breastplate and a bone axe, but my 1 soldier with 6/6 str/faith is wiping out everyone and not getting hit. I can see the mobs don’t attack before reaching a certain point, and they do attack my stockpiles, but they just run away from my soldier (who then swings ineffectively a few times at them before finally one-shotting them - good god bone axes are so OP, and all it cost me was 10 mean beds). I’m glad I can defend myself with how often the rest of my hearthling run back and forth like chickens with their heads chopped off trying to get them to build housing, but so far this is just way too easy.
I got ready to make a 2nd diner because I finally got a bunch of hearthlings and… crash. something about rotating not working? rather than crash, my game minimized and took me to desktop and an error pop-up appeared. this happened before the update too, and happens whenever I try to place down a pre-made building. only before the update I could close th pop-up and return to the game, only to see it frozen and require me to alt+f4 out of there (so I should probably keep auto-save on, which I did for this playthrough. good thing, too, considering the pre-fab buildings crashed my game again). this time, every time I tried to return to stonehearth it just threw the same error in my face 5 times over and over, so I just right-clicked the process and killed it that way. this was hours ago and I forgot to screenshot it, sorry.
I have more to say, but I should really head to bed right now. it’s 5:42 AM, I’m tired. I’ll edit this in the morning… er, afternoon.
