I have been on the fence about this game for quite some time, is it truly worth the 25$ price tag? My questions basically are, will there be seasons and weather that impact gameplay later down the road? I also heard there will be large boss encounters later? And just how creative can you get with the building system such as, can you bore into a mountain and create a mountain city? I hope this is the right sections to put this in lol. Thank you for your time.
Now :
- You must manage your citizens to feed them and protect them from NPC attack and event.
- You can construct your customs city as you want !
- Mods (more item, theme mod, etc…)
Problems :
- It’s a Alpha : all things are not available !
- Like all Alpha : Yes, you can find some mistake or bugs.
Future :
- The game is develloping (creators not yet run with the money) !
- Future posibility are greatful !
- Multiplayer !
- Players feed back !
My personal idea :
This game give me a chance do to a city with citizen. To make my own city style as i want ! The community is reactive and friendly ! And even if you are not a programmer IF you want you can do you own item easily with tutorial from the forum !
I don’t feel to lose my money on this game but yes it’s an Alpha… one more …
I do like the sound of multiplayer, and yeah I do know it is in Alpha, which is kind of exciting with the content it has now just the possibility of whats to come.
To be honest, I don’t think TR will run away with the money ever
I had bought into this one game called Timber and Stone, which is very similar, but it has a much smaller dev team I think, hardly ever gets an update, made me sad to buy it.
Welcome!
Before T&S rework it’s graphics, the two game could seems quite similar. Now, T&S was perhaps more polished at code level. Actually in SH the main features are still in work so if you just want to play, perhaps it’s a bit too soon. If you want to play + if you are interested in game dev + if you want to help, then SH worth the money you will put in it. One good point here is the dev team very reactive, dev streams 3 times per week and regular dev builds to test things. So unlike T&S, the dev team is pretty active.
In terms of value for entertainment time its a good deal, especially for a game still in development.
I just bought Stonehearth last week and have already put 30ish very entertaining hours into it, in addition to spending time leaving feedback and contributing to bug reports whenever possible. In the week I owned the game it has updated twice and the devs are very active on the forums.
If I never played Stonehearth again after today (I intend to keep playing as it develops), I still would have gotten 30 hours of entertainment for $25. Once it’s complete it shouldn’t be uncommon to have hundreds of hours logged.
Considering the horror stories of other games languishing in development hell for years or devs that take the money and run, Stonehearth seems like a solid buy IMO.
like beatrice said, if you want to play a game, you might want to hold off, as the game is in early alpha, and it still has a beta to go through eventually. while there is a bit you can do now, you’re severely limited in what you can do. for example, buildings only just recently allowed players to make multiple floors with the builder. multiple rooms (aside from multiple stories) are not yet supported, and will just throw errors in your face. if you buy it right now, you are not buying the finished product, at least not yet. that said, it is entirely likely that the price could potentially increase upon final release, and buying the game now would ensure that you don’t have to pay more when the game does come out (if the price increases, which I don’t know if it will). that said, the game’s still quite fun, even if it’s still greatly unfinished. the devs do well on making sure that, even though we’re playing the game primarily to squash bugs and provide information on computers, that we still have fun doing it. with constant updates, constant feedback, and a decent amount of playability for an alpha game, this game handles it all pretty well, and I would say it’s well worth the $25 price tag, even in its current state (although it will definitely get better from its current state). I myself have clocked in 58 hours on stonehearth. while most of it was after the ability to build 2nd stories came out, the game has managed to entertain me enough to keep coming back after the updates to try it again and attempt to make the game better. most games don’t allow nearly as much player-induced molding as this game does, as player suggestions are heard by the devs and often make it through if it’s workable, and it’s explained either by the devs or by others when the suggestion isn’t feasibly possible. unlike many games where the devs promise user feedback will be heeded, from what I’ve seen, it usually goes entirely unheeded, and gamers usually just accept it as normal, since most games do that. so these devs go above and beyond by maintaining contact with their playerbase as much as they do. the fact that you get to be one of the people that helps make this game alone makes it worth $25 at the very least, and it’s an experience you likely won’t find elsewhere.
Thank you guys I have decided to buy it, I would like to support this.
alright, I look forward to seeing you in the forums. happy squashing!
