Can't play r582 but previous A17 builds and A16 start fine

I think you might not have the latest drivers. Updating the drivers has helped many many times so you could also try it.

In this page: Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 4600

There’s a list of drivers for your graphics card. Download and install the one corresponding to your operative system (I don’t know if you have Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10).

Well, i have the lastest drivers now and still the same, if run the game from steam; unkillable process and nothing, if run from .exe in folder; black screen, music and nothing more. I have no more ideas.

could you post the contents of your user_settings.json file?

You can try changing “enable_fullscreen” to false instead of true, save, restart the game and see if it helps…

When the fullscreen mode gave problems it usually crashed the game, I think. It didn’t leave the black screen  this is so weird…

Yes, it is rare. I already change that option and the resolution too… nothing seems to work and is driving me crazy…

do you happen to have two monitors?

No, just one. And the A16 work fine like A17 until the last update :sob:

I’m not sure what else you can try…
I’ll summon some devs ( @Albert or @not_owen_wilson ). It makes no sense that it’s happening only in the latest build and not the previous unstable ones, maybe something important has changed.

If you have any crash.dmp file in the Stonehearth folder, can you upload it here please?

A quick search shows these threads in the forum, related to firewalls and such:
http://discourse.stonehearth.net/t/game-starts-with-a-black-screen-uninstall-windows-8-firewall-control/18036/18?u=relyss
http://discourse.stonehearth.net/t/help-start-up-and-quit-itself-black-screen-with-game-sound-lavasoft-ad-aware/17352?u=relyss

I remember a weird issue where the files were not accesible due to processes, but it’s unrelated. Your log looks fine, no errors, no mods, no crashes… :disappointed_relieved:

how strange. black screens have historically been associated with some type of antivirus/malware/firewall programs, but you’ve played the game as recently as the last a17 patch

the devs should be around soon so hopefully they can enlighten us!

i don’t have any crash report, because the game never crash, the process is unkillable, and when the black screen thing happend then i can kill the process, so, no crash file. There is no problem with the firewall, i check that too before… Hope the devs can help me… i want my hearthlings back

Just a minor (likely irrelevant) note here: I’ve experienced “black screen forever, no radiant logo” because I was messing around with one of the game’s JSON files and forgot a comma.

But i already delete all files manualy so they can regenerate, and this morning i reinstall the game like 4 times.

Hi,
What error messages do you get from the stonehearth.exe in the main folder?
I believe one should NOT launch stonehearth from the 64 bit directory directly, so I am not surprised if that exe doesnt run.
Thanks
-Yang

Yes, is probably that. Was trying to find the problem…but like i say, the error isn’t there anymore, just black screen, or unkillable process.

Hi,
Can you please upload your latest stonehearth.log? I want to check it after the graphics driver updates.
Thanks,
-Yang

I cant post anymore, it say i reach the limit. I put my last log here:

As @Relyss and @jjjshab pointed out, black screen with music is strongly associated with security software like firewalls, anti-malware, and IP anonymization.

Also check this link about the Windows Firewall:

http://discourse.stonehearth.net/t/possible-solution-for-the-64bit-version-black-screen-background-music/20426

it still shows you’re using an older driver; the build should start with 15.xx.xx.xxxx with the drivers that @Relyss linked

@jjjshab that is the last driver, 15.xxx; that number 10xxx is one of the “controllers”? i dont know the english word for that, but for example the audio “controller” is 6.xxx version. I hope u can understand me, my english is so bad.

@Albert The firewall thing i check but cant find the problem there…

In other news, with the last update the game is running fine. So, i dont know what happend with that update, but is all over now. :joy:

Thanks for all the help. :hugging:
