Why are there more than one save of the same game?

Why are there more than one save of the same game? This does not seam very rouge-like. I would think that all you can do is save a game and it always overwrites. If not, I can save before every Boss attack, or trader and replay that event over and over until I get it right.

Rouge-like = death is permanent.

Uh… SH is not supposed to be a rogue-like game as far as I remember?

I’m not sure whether the team will implement a save limitation on a higher difficulty, or perhaps have a “rogue-like” difficulty where upon death your save file self-destructs. You could always self-limit it, but as @PDanford said they aren’t trying to produce a rogue-like game.

It’s definitely a valid point, it all depends whether the team view this as a problem and are looking to restrict the gameplay to a one save file.

the game was never billed as a rogue-like…
Stonehearth is a game about exploration and survival in an epic fantasy setting. Your job is to help a small group of settlers survive and carve out a place for themselves in a hostile land. You’ll need to establish a food supply, build shelter, defend your people, and find a way to grow and expand, facing challenges at every step.

Starting from procedurally generated terrain with dynamic AI encounters, Stonehearth combines city sim and good old combat with infinite building possibilities. It’s built to be moddable at every level, from your city, to the people and creatures inhabiting the world, and will ship with the tools and documentation for you to add your own customizations to the game, and share them with friends.

The game is equal parts Sandbox, Real Time Strategy, and RPG.
