I made a silver platemail suit and it came out as a “masterwork” that i can sell for almost 900 gold. I can craft another but are there any benifits that the armor gets for being high quality? do the hearthlings get extra happyness from higher quality foods? do higher quality ingreedents give higher chances of higher quality products? please advise.
The answer depends on if you’re using the ACE mod or not.
Vanilla:
- Higher quality items will sell for more and have greater appeal.
- Higher quality foods will give an additional happiness modifier when eaten.
- Higher quality equipment will not make any difference.
- Higher quality materials will not increase the chances of getting higher quality crafts. The chance relies solely on the crafter’s Inspiration attribute/base chances.
- It’s not possible to acquire certain materials with higher qualities, like some raw resources (stone, wood, plants), animal products or farming products. Higher qualities are always the result of crafting.
ACE:
- Higher quality items will sell for more and have greater appeal, although on the higher qualities (Excellent and Masterwork) the value multiplier is lower than in vanilla.
- Higher quality foods will give an additional happiness modifier, and so will higher quality drinks.
- Higher quality equipment will slightly increase the wearer’s menace, making enemies more likely to run away.
- Higher quality materials are the most relevant factor in the calculation of a crafted item’s quality. While the Inspiration attribute still weighs in, the average sum of the quality of all ingredients is the most important.
- You can acquire almost every resource in higher qualities. For higher quality wood, stone and ore (mined or harvested resources) you’ll need better tools crafted by the Blacksmith. For higher quality animal products you’ll need better animal fodder crafted by the Shepherd and for higher quality farming products you’ll need fertilizers, also crafted by the Shepherd!
