Water has dropped down to 2 blocks

Summary:
I was building a house on the water, and I noticed that the water level was going down. I also did some mining in the water to make some space for other things to build. I first thought that the descending of the water had to do something with the in-game seasons, but it doesn’t. There are however still waves appearing on th coast line, but there is no water, so it looks really weird.
I asked the mod creator of the map I’m playing on, and he said that it might had to do with a bug for digging in the water, but he was not sure. The water is now down to 2 blocks in height and it is not coming back.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Building and digging in the water? (I don’t know exactly what to put here)

Expected Results:
Nice and cool looking building in the water with still having the water on the right level.
Digging in the water without having the water level to drop.

Actual Results:
Still have nice and cool looking buildings in the water, but the water has dropped to 2 blocks in height.

Notes:
Objects that need to b in the water are no longer in the water and there is a popup that says that there is no water after I replace the objects.
