Its terrible when computers fail like that.

well that’s better than nothing right? : D

it is indeed! excellent news! :+1:

It is better than nothing, but I would definitely prefer the animations to be on there xD. I’ll be posting an update sometime next week on my thoughts on continuing.

we all have faith in your ability to re-create those animations and probably make them even better than before.

That completely sucks, years of dealing with windows computers. I learn a few tricks. If you haven’t reinstalled Windows. Try this out and see if it works. I’m working on a grand story myself and I’m no where near ready to show it off yet. But in the mean time I’ve written this short story. Called Lydus The Axe Man, tell me what you think.

I would love to participate in this project. I am fairly experienced in video editing with programs such as Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects and Source Filmmaker. I am very excited about this game and your project. I would like to help in any way possible. I love this kind of stuff.

I know that those programs probably can’t do much for your project, but let me know.
I would love to help design the channel on YouTube or handle anything you may not want to. Anything.

Discussion:

Alright, so it’s been a few days since the set back and I have laid out all the chances and work I’ll need to do to get caught up and in the place I would’ve been after this weekend. Grand total, I had spent a little over 100 hours perfecting the animations in episode 1 along with the rough animations of episode 2.

Sadly I don’t have the time to remake all of this stuff and along with the BIGGEST issue… I don’t have the story anymore, I remember bits and pieces but the refined and detailed final pass of the story was erased in the wipe and it wasn’t on the USB key.

However I do plan to restart this project in the future, but not until I have more experience under my belt as an animator. I love this story, I love the characters, I just don’t have what it takes for me to fully bring out my ideas.

I do also have a smaller project I want to make, which will be relevant to the PwS story but is more of a smaller side story focused around a Northern Thief and his Wolf. It’s much simpler, I will make much less assets to lose in case this happens again. I’m currently working on a “Movie Poster” type image for it which will be released after completion.

So, the project is scrapped? :crying_cat_face:

Not scrapped, I’ll be rewriting the story until it’s done then returning to it once I feel more confident in my abilities to animate and tell the story the way it is intended to be told. I will continue to work on it in the background of this one but as of now it has been back burnered

Whilst you might have lost the results of your work as a product, the knowledge and experience you gained from it will only benefit you going forward.

I know it’s not much in the way of consolation, but you will have grown from it all

I suppose you have two ways of progressing - attempt to re-do your original story, with the experience you have.

Or treat it as a learning process and move on to a new topic.

Whatever you do I look extremely forward to seeing something! Best of luck

I just bought 1 Tb hard drive specifically for the projects I work on, I’ve learnt my lesson to not trust my computer xD

Did you try my recommendation? The information or files are still on the HDD as long as you didn’t write over it. By reinstalling Windows or another OS. You should be able to recover all your files.

After I found the USB I didn’t feel like I needed too. I know I can do better than what I had, so I decided to abandon previous progress to make a better final product.
