Figured out the cause, and a partial solution. The way Qubicle does textures isn’t proper textures, like you’d somewhat expect of a voxel modeller it instead creates the palette thing and pretty much assigns individual faces to the different colours instead of proper textures for each matrix. What this means is that when we simplify all the faces down it causes it to screw up what colours are linked to what faces as there isn’t as much faces. There is two solutions I’ve thought of, neither are fast with them being better for colour changes and less good for model changes. The solutions are
Create a proper texture for the models, should be reasonably easy to edit as it’s just blocks of colour but will need to tweaked every time you remodel. Probably the better option.
Manually combine the faces to prevent them from merging incorrectly, this is done by selecting touching faces of the same colour and hitting f to merge them. Could take a while but could be useful as a quick thing for large models to just make a big flat piece or two a single block. Also has to be done for every model individually but while it would make straight swatches just a matter of using the other palette from qubicle it would also make it so that any model changes require completely redoing all changed matrices.
If there was someway to make it simplify with respect to UV editing it would be good, I might have to play around some more.
These are the 3 Models I made on stream today. A samurai for a mist @Avairian, and the northern guild thieves. I took the head off the new wolf design and made some claw weapons. I’d like to that everyone who watched the stream, for those who didn’t all of what I did today is on archive. I’m working out the sound issues and trying to get my microphone working as well, if I get it all working I will be streaming again tomorrow if not either this weekend or whenever I’m bored.
I made this after the stream for the “Offline” image when I am not streaming. I feel like I can do some fun renders like a zombie rising scene and such, I think I will make it a Desktop background… post desktop res list so I can make it for your computer too
