Do you have the save file from when this happened or something like it? Thanks!
The hearth bug was extremely special, I watched the whole thing as it happened. One of the Hearthlings build a set of stairs decided that he needed to get more wood, and jest started walking through the air - like, a few feet of the ground, very slowly descending. At about his own height, he stopped moving, and dropped a piece of stone from his backpack, which seemed to boost him up higher into the air. Simultaneously, this event put him into an Idle animation. I then used the console command āResetā as it had worked before, but instead that just moved him to above the hearth at exactly the same attitude. It was like the game was treating his elevation as a floor level, and only allowing the reset command to move the Hearthling to other destinations on the same level.
After removing the Hearth, the Hearthling fell to the ground immediately and continued his work where he left off, completely unperturbed.
Just to verify, all this is on the stable branch, right, without the fixes that have since made it to unstable?
This is the most recent update sent through Steam. Iāve never used any experimental version of the game to my knowledge, nor have I ever downloaded anything from the workshop.
āMost recent updateā can be interpreted as the unstable version. Always try to mention the build number that you can see in the game next to the sun or in the bottom left of the main menu in your reports.
We were told that this still happened on the next build after r860, but seems that all the reports weāre getting about this are from people playing on the stable version (which is r860).
Weāre having much trouble reproducing this on the latest unstable version, so if nobody that plays on unstable confirms that this is still hapenning, Iāll move this report to the resolved category at the end of the week.
@Relyss @max99x i play on unstable, (R866) i rarely see it, but nowadays itās always in collusion with building, just walking upto the elevation (or through), and sometimes getting stuck in places like roofs and under in staircases, but itās not nearly as bad as it once was and i have no idea how to reproduce. the only pointed i can give is, during building processes. of varying complexities of buildings.
But as i stated, i only RARELY see it on the unstable branch anymore.
Hmm, thanks for the info. Iāll try looking at some of the building stuff, especially roofs and staircases, to see if I can replicate it.
I will check this on latest branch
Summary:
Sometimes a citizen when taking an object causes an error and is undetected on the ground, is there any way to change the position with a command and remove it from there? Or do we have to dig to get to it and get it out?
Welcome to the forum, @jydgameresp
Which version are you playing?
What you describe sounds like this bug: Skywalking Bug (someone learnt how to fly)
which sometimes left hearthlings trapped in the ground if they stopped walking while they were flying.
And this bug should be already fixed in r860.
Which error are you getting? Could you copy-paste it here next time it happens?
Iām just on the R860 without mods and itās the first time that happens to me.
It is possible that this error is. I forgot to mention that I was in multiplayer with another person and he also happened to him.
Thank you
Try this:
- Press C to open your Characters list;
- Select the heathling you want;
- Press J to start watching him, (it will select him either if you canāt see);
- CTRL+C to open the console;
- Type teleport than select a valid terrain.
Worked for me when this happened. Hope it works for you too.
Cheers.
Sonikro.
Yeah the skywalking bug is still there in multiplayer. Have seen it happen while playing multiplayer today multiple times actually. But i also know that multiplayer is not 100% finished so maybe they are aware of that this is still there!
We fixed a couple of instances of the bug, which we canāt reproduce anymore, but there might still be more cases where it happens.
Weāll keep investigating, thanks for confirming!
Details of how you got this bug to occur, videos of it, or savegames that trigger it would be super useful.
thanks for the help, with this we can manage it until they solve it
If you teleport someone who is currently moving to a destination, they will continue moving there regardless of physics. That is expected behavior.
Should the reset command help? After using it ling goes through mountain.
In theory, once a hearthling reaches their destination after a teleport, they will start following the laws of physics once again, but the teleport command is not really officially supported - use it at your own risk.
