Hello!
I know that if you grab mods from Steam Workshop, and a friend joins you, they will automatically download the mods you have in use, I was wondering if that applies to mods that are downloaded from anywhere else but the Steam Workshop aswell, As in, if the game will automatically notice those mods and make my friends download them aswell.

Hello ~ the game will see that there’s a mod conflict, like mods are missing or different. But if the mods are not from the workshop it wont automatically get them. The only way to resolve that is if your friend manually downloads the same non-workshop mod.
You can also upload a mod to the workshop and mark it as Friends Only, and it won’t be publicly listed, but should be synced.
