Here is an hooded Aviom (they have a name now!). They would be the ones carrying the staves. Also made an ‘worker’ type. Really just wanted to show off they are an odd number of voxles wide now.

Glad to see that you took my advice and came up with a name similar to “Avian”. The shape looks great as well, very smooth.
I had to, I couldn’t just keep calling them bird people. Not sure if I like what I got and I didn’t want to directly use your example. Thoughts from anyone?

For the bird people umm… ‘Volites’ or ‘Volite’ resonates with me… not sure anyone else would like it. Playing off of the word “volitation” which means like, the act and/or power of flying
I like this guy. I like the idea of a tavern drunk telling tales too. Maybe sitting around the bar regaling the townsfolk with stories of things that attacked the village in the past.

Well - it’s a tabard with a hood over it but I was trying to have it match so it looked like one thing

Given the Arctic Biome I went a more cozy warm for him rather than his usual thin looking robes.
@Yeti yeah but it would lose a bit of its 16 bit feel, you could go for midway though
I noticed your model only after I spent the last little while trying to make one for myself. If I had seen it earlier I could have saved myself some work. 
I did notice on your model though that the top of your head is slightly off. Here is a side view from the live stream that shows the head at a pretty good angle:
