[Q] Transportation

Is there going to be any form of transportation of goods from long distances planned for in the game?

I don’t find too huge of an issue with moving an empty box somewhere, loading it up, and carrying it back.

I am just curious, I mean it would be neat to have train. or caravans since they are mentioned in the game.

Search for my Mod List there is a Mod

I would tend to agree with @SirStafford right now, moving a crate, chest, or vault to an area and back, but in the future if the game is going to continue to grow and include larger villages or even multiple villages a better mechanic will be necessary…

like moving those crates on a wagon, not a new storage device, but a means to move storage containers…

though i absolutely love the zulzer mod,

  • one, im not sure it would fit into the core game, at least not until end game (mechanic class)

  • and two, its actually broken right now, caused problems for quite a few people :disappointed:

but, its still awesome

but perhaps @RepeatPan will fix it when he see that we want it again

Last time I’ve checked, Radiant changed something that made entities dropped off conveyor belts invisible. I couldn’t be arsed to make a test case and submit it as a bug though, so it will likely stay broken until someone else submits that changing-a-parent-makes-an-entity-invisible bug.

hmmm then perhaps we should ask directly our wonderfull @sdee

I’ve asked Tony on the stream once, he was proposing the test case bit. If it’s still around (I’ve touched SH the last time around Alpha 11), then there’s nobody to blame but me.

On GitHub is a fixed version for Alpha 11 though. It wasn’t available as release/normal .smod, but if you check it out with git or download the master and rename the folder appropriately, it was working in Alpha 11. Minus the invisibility bit.

Yes, exactly. Something “automated” in some way. I like the idea of a wagon, but we would need to see “vehicles” in the game first. I was personally thinking more along the lines of a hearthling job, like trader, who would have 2 zones, and would be solely responsible for moving items from one zone to another (possibly with the help of a crate, or crate on a wagon, or conveyer belt system )

This sounds like a job for (indentured) Goblin “employees”.

I’d love to see beasts of burden, mules, camels, oxen depending on your kingdom with the functionality of being mobile storage units.

I think that would be awesome, but they should be more than just for item transportation. Maybe they could help with farming (for very large farms), or sheparding (for making the shepard faster when herding sheep, or footman (for riding into battle). That would be neat!

I am not huge into doing mods at the moment, just because i like reporting bugs n such. i will do mods, when I know the game is complete though
