Yes, but my camp is full of thieves and a undead guy.
The first console I got was an original Xbox (Yeah, Iām a young one. I never got any of those early Nintendo consoles or anything else before then. I did get GBA though.) And I have been a console guy since then. Although now that I have been able to build a good custom computer, Iām able to be dominantly a PC guy because I can actually RUN the games I want to play. Thatās whats nice about consoles, they are simple, just like Macs. Anyways, I have always payed attention to the consoles to decide what I want and got more complicated decisions over time. I just look at it that Iām a equal opportunity hater (or lover) unlike, like you said Steve, the ones that are fanatics about a certain console/company.
@KingFish, that is exactly what my background is, except I actually did get to play the GameCube. I am only recently getting into the realm of the PC. Anyways, like you, one of my first consoles was also the Xbox. Unlike you, I have never been a huge fan of Sony, but I canāt quite place where that light distrust stems from. Besides that, I am actually weighing each one equally this time around. Besides that, I plan on going with Xbox One, simply because I have always been an Xbox guy, and also Titanfall. (However, the Order does look pretty good. But weigh the options: Giant sci-fi mechs, or zombe-things?) Anyway, if there is something else that will change my mind from the Xbox, I would go with the PS4. I was perfectly happy with the original, digital-based Xbox One.
Comparison:
Online- Pretty much the same. Xbox has been better, so I go with them for having them right the first time.
Controller- Xbox, clearly.
Exclusives- Titanfall, Halo pretty much hold my heart already. Killzone looks like a mix between Halo and some other game that I canāt remember right now, and the Order is the only real exclusive that has my eye for PS4.
DRM- Donāt really care, as I donāt have internet problems typically, and I donāt resell games.
Features- Iām not really informed a whole lot on the difference between each oneās apps and capabilities, so whatever.
Specs- PS4 is shown to be slightly better, but only marginally.
I mean, my personal interests point to Xbox instead of PS4.
Well yes although Titanfall isnt on PS4 it is on PC. Just something to keep in mind. I suppose Iāll sum up things like you did:
Online- Agree with you. Should be the same now with the upcoming changes and pay for online on PSN.
Controller- Agree as well. I have a PS3 and Xbox and I can definitely feel the difference. Xbox is much better for my hands.
Exclusives- Well, although it is exclusive in the console world, Titanfall is on PC. Halo is always awesome although with Halo 4 I was disappointed with multi-player so Iām skeptical about Halo 5, but Campaign and story is wonderful as always. I cant say there were many launch titles or already announced titles that caught my eye for PS4 other then Killzone.
DRM- Like you said, it honestly wouldnāt be a problem for me since I donāt have connection problems and donāt USUALLY sell games back to Gamestop or somewhere else. Although, I do like having the option so no/less DRM is good.
Features- I know hardware specs, but the features I havenāt looked into much/seen much about so I canāt voice much of an opinion.
Specs- Canāt argue with you. Its a fact. The hardware is basically equal/maybe a little better on PS4.
Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that Iāve used Microsoft products before, and although they are typically subpar to third-party software (except for Windows, Office, and Skype, and maybe a few others), their flagships, both hardware and software, are typically first-rate.
One more thing: go America.
I canāt agree there. When Skype was beating messenger in user numbers they bought it. Skype is great because of the people who designed it, as a frequent user for chatting over LoL I say after the purchase quality declined because they are messing with the core design to be more āsocialā and as far as Office etc goes its a little hard to compare when it comes with the computer ![]()
But, have you ever even used any other software besides Office? Odds are no, or if you have, only because you had to. I mean, Office is pretty much the standard. And you still agree that Skype is good, right? I mean, itās pretty much also the standard for direct, private online communication, besides email. But email is too slow.
That I also canāt agree with. There have been a bunch of contact information losses revolving around the loose care of skypeās servers. Private isnāt what Iād call it, but as a means to talk it does the job.
Oh, well.
Have you seen the size difference between the Xbox and PS4? That makes it hard for me to believe that they are packing everything that the One hasā¦
Another thing- Xbox has been much more open to the public. It personally makes me feel as if Sony is hiding something, or something like that.
How about we do a private little poll in the sanctuary of this forum? @SteveAdamo, may I request that you pin this, so that people will come and vote? I want to see some actual results here, not just a handful of likes.
Vote for Xbox One here!
Vote for PS4 right here!
Being public can be extremely bad as well. The reason sony is keeping out details is because they have the win so far regardless over the leftover information. They can change what they like and itād seem like a great original idea that has been there since conception of the PS4, while Microsoft tries to pick up the pieces of their losses, Sony just sits back and sees reactions to what Microsoft does and plans to counter effectively.
All it is, is clever business.
Well now, you shouldnāt say something is better if you havenāt used something else. Also, even if something is standard it doesnāt mean its better. Could it be? Possibly. Office and Skype are okay, but for Skype Iām sure there is a better alternative in some way.
I have used other things, including Googleās software and Appleās software. Those two are⦠subpar.
Do you know of a better alternative?
Actually if the mind is programmed to a routine or a specific thing it can be hardwared to thinking it is best, itās like having a favorite sweater or hat. You are so used to wearing or using it, it becomes the best thing ever. I agree with your point though ![]()
good proof of concept. Letās get back to topic though, straying a little far
So, guys, what kind of game do you think Microsoft is going to reveal at Gamescom for their āunique exclusiveā?
Probably something everyone is expecting. They wouldnāt hype it up so much if it isnāt something the fans wanted, possibly the game the Shadow of Colosuss devs have been working on.
I mean things a little less mainstream, but Iām not saying Office is bad or Skype is bad. They are still good in my opinion, but I think there is something better. I donāt know for sure to answer your question. Just maybe there is something better then Skype. Really it all comes down to opinions here
I hope itās a really unique, Kinect-optimized game, maybe a strategy game? That would be, to say the least, cool. I mean, who wouldnāt enjoy screaming at the TV for your troops to swing North and crush the rebel base so your main army can strike deep into the heart of your foeās territory? I know I would.
Oh, and @Pandemic, are you US-ian, or UK-ian?
