PS4 & Xbox One?

Maybe not the PS4 or Xbox One, but if the Ouija (is that how it’s spelt? weird word…) is developer friendly then does anyone know if it is perhaps also mod-friendly?

I am, however, only curious. Putting Stonehearth onto a console is just a massive waste of effort. You gain nothing from it and simply detract from the devs’ time to expand and improve it. Consoles: please no.

The Ouya? My understanding of the Ouya is that it’s actually a relatively poor device with most of the current tablets being more powerful than it. As such I don’t think it’s suitable for a lot outside of the usual stuff you find on android …

@Zooka128 and @KingFish, as I said above:

It’s no secret that Microsoft have a relatively poor relationship with Indie devs and a lot of them will be developing for Sony, I am upset that currently we won’t see [urlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni02F7l4lAg] transistor on Xbox One as I loved Bastion. However, the [urlhttp://www.polygon.com/2013/7/24/4553596/indie-devs-say-xbox-one-self-publishing-is-a-move-in-the-right]recent change allowing self-publishing is a step in the right direction for indie games on Xbox. Whether or not it is enough to start rebuilding some of those bridges, again, time will tell.

Also @jollins and @ManOfRet I’m not sure if I should be reining you in or congratulating you on your ability to lambast Microsoft and Obama in the space of 10 comments …

I’m not exactly sure if their policies on Self Publishing/Indie Games has changed, but since E3 and other announcements they have made Microsoft has been licking their wounds from shooting themselves in the foot from what they have said. Many changes to policies have been made and are for the better. So, most likely yes, it has been changed or will be changed.

Well, gamescom is their last chance to redeem themselves.

I own a PS3 and a 360 and enjoyed both as consoles. They both had their perks with certain game exclusives, but what is a really big tie breaker for the two is their online services. Sure, you pay for Xbox Live, but it’s better quality with more features. I would have connection issues more or less frequently on PSN. People may be upset with the decision by Sony to pay for online on PSN with PS4, but I feel this is a good decision. That money, in theory, would be able to go towards better quality servers, and maybe more features. For example, party chat on 360 is a great function as it is annoying to have to go to a game to talk with my friends, at least in my opinion.

Yeah, I mean, even if you don’t have it being paid, you should still AT LEAST have party chat. I mean, come on, dude.

Ouya is one of the now many Android consoles and was backed on Kickstarter for those of you that don’t know. It was a good idea, but as I’ve seen said around, it just isn’t a very good quality console. Its basically a cube Android phone that goes to a monitor or TV. I read a little about it in Gameinformer so I’m not the most knowledgeable on it, but I know some. Whats nice about it is that yeah it is developer/Indie developer (whatever you want to call it) friendly. Also for mod friendly though, not sure, but the console its self can easily be modded.

And yes Geo, hopefully the recent changes will bring Indies to Xbox now, but Sony did it right first. In my mind that would be a significant factor since it means Microsoft can go the wrong direction again without a doubt.

See by the only feature I really ever used IS being able to play online. Why pay 20$ instead of 5$ a month for a set of functions that im completely not interested in?

Yes, when it comes down to it I would be happy with just online play, but the server quality was poor. So if we talk purely about online play, Xbox Live wins in my opinion. I have less disconnects and less problems with it.

Ouya is the highest earning Kickstarter project ever, at more than $8 mil. Fun fact.

In that case I would agree with you. Though the games I play (SSF4AE, UMvC3) have a much more pleasant community on the sony Platforms. Having good online is one thing, but the community between platforms can very and waver the choice just based on how polite people are on them

It’s no secret that the Xbox Live community isn’t the… nicest… but, hey, at least you can be mean across different games, am I right?

Yes I completely agree. The community is better on the PSN, but I kept to my party chat on Xbox with my friends so community wasn’t much of an issue to me. Although, the issue is still there.

But, though PS3 didn’t have party feature, now PS4 does. When thinking of the next console, they took what the 360 did that the PS3 didn’t and made it so it had the best of both. Not only will the community be better on PS4 but they will have the lower price with the same features to help weed out the bad ones (of course this is all theory)

This is very true. They are up to par for certain features with Xbox now. As for price, I believe that is to change some since that is another bullet to Microsoft’s feet. If they have changed everything else, I can see it happening where they reduce the price down from $500 US Dollars.

Yep. Now that Kinect is optional, I have no doubt that they will drop the price by about $50 for the model with it, and also have a $400 for the no-Kinect Xbox.

Back to PSN, don’t you think that it’s popularity with the general public will attract all of the lesser denizens of the 360’s Xbox Live to the PSN?

If Microsoft reduces the cost of the Xbox One I can see plenty of people jumping on board. Future cost wise, for me I won’t be until I see good things com from the consoles games. 400+20 per month I don’t think so, but if the yearly is reduced to 70 instead of 80 Micrsoft would have my cake. Only the price drop of the Xbox One can change my decision atm  (Yes, i spent way to much time thinking about my console of choice)

Wait, 80 dollars a year? Xbox Live is only 60, though.

Now although yes, the Kinect is no longer required, it still comes with the console. But its possible there will be a version without Kinect.

im just too much of a console light-weight to have more than a cursory opinion… i am waiting a solid 12-16 months before deciding on either platform, but i know several folks (surprisingly) that are getting an X1, regardless of what they may read from industry critics, etc.

as is true with either camp im sure, there are those that are just dyed in the wool fanatics…
