Now I’m thinking about a couple of cows duelling banjos…
Yes now that is something close too what I thought you might do. Thank You!!!
Just had a idea @Omnus if in the game you could make instruments and when idle a character might pick one up and play, other characters might also be encouraged to play along with them. and so that process would need music to go along. If you think this is a cool idea and have a piece in mind give what instruments it requires. who knows it can go from stand alone works to full orchestra.
That would be amazing if you had the music track, and it was separated into each instrument so the track built up and down depending upon how many instruments are being played!
Aaaaaand reading back through what you wrote, I have merely reiterated.
for Geoffers everybody!
pats him on the head encouragingly
it’s ok… shhhh… its okaaaay…
but yes, the idea of units picking up instruments and playing them individually or in concert would be a real treat to watch… so, here’s my reiteration as well (hopefully that’ll make you feel better)… ![]()
Hey, I just had a brilliant idea! What if idle characters just picke- no
But seriously, that would be pretty cool, but might fall into the “Shed” category, with it being really awesome at first and eventually annoying as random parts are played…
It really sounds like something that would be cool to mod into the game. The framework will be there - the ability to create instruments, have “musicians” train on certain instruments, and have solo and ensemble music come from their performances.
Now if only you could have it so the less skilled the musician, the worse the song sounds haha. Or perhaps he just hits some flat notes here and there.
Oh god. I would not be able to stand that. The first thing I’d do is set up a music school if that was the case…
Forced on.
Game auto shutdown if you try and alter it.
Account deleted if you try and mod it out.
You will like these horrible flat notes. And you will smile when you hear them.
Bard profession - Bolster productivity and combat stats with songs!
And fixes/decreases likelihood of flat notes
glares threateningly at @Geoffers747
Ideas of how songs help people, plants, and animals:
- Increases building speed by 10%.
- Crops grow at a rate of 5% faster.
- Animals will provide more food when Slaughtered.
- Caravans have a 5% better chance of coming to your town.
- Every time there is a Villager dies with music nearby there is a 15% chance of coming back to life!!!
im not too sure about the specific examples you have given, but i do like the idea of a bard having a more direct impact on the surrounding environment… interesting…
@SteveAdamo do you think normal workers could just pick up an instruments and play music and be able to go back to work, so they don’t have to make a whole unit tree and have even less workers to work with???
By direct impact I’m assuming you mean on the character’s production, and not the player’s eardrums, right?
cough @Geoffers747 cough
But it would be interesting to have a non-production class/skill tree that still has an affect like, say, increasing the likelihood of traders or something like that.
im somewhat torn on having a specific class, that may be so singular in purpose… if it couldnt be adequately fleshed out, then the idea of letting any unit pick up an instrument and have some sort of effect on a particular situation seems like an interesting idea… would have to consider the implications to balance though…
Maybe it could be a musician Class that even gives you better prices for Caravans!!!
Or you could have different instruments and each instrument could have a different effect!!!
Definitely lots of great opportunities for musical invention in this game. Imagine an invading goblin tribe with war drums that get louder as they approach your position.
Maybe The War Drums (If there are a certain amount of them) could Summon Up a Troll to help aid the Goblins in there Onslaught!!!
P.S. Can’t wait for your next Piece any Hints about it???
