Hey everyone - I saw a few of you asking for an uptempo piece of music, so I made some Boss Battle Music! It features some awesome Boss-looking cube art characters that I found in various threads in this forum. I put the name of the creature and the person that created it in the video!
With the music, I tried to make it as epic as possible while keeping the subtle electronic elements with mostly orchestral sounds. Also, I’ve been trying to add instruments that “sound” like something the in-game people would play, so in this case I added some tribal drums in the background. Hope you enjoy it!
i definitely got the vibe of a boss battle here… the drums were a nice touch (would probably like to hear more, if possible)… and overall, there was a certain degree of tension the music evokes…
@Chaze007 that’s something I’d love to do. At some point, when I get attached to a game (whether Stonehearth or other), I’d like to do vlogs showing the process of orchestration, arranging, mixing, mastering, and producing for video games. I think it would be fun.
Again it kinda has this FF vibe for me, I like it, but I’m not sure how I feel about it in regards to SH.
I personally feel that the electronic synthy background notes were a little forced? Like it was an unecessary layer trying to evoke this 16-bit feel?
Also I felt it was a little upbeat, happy, and ‘light’ for a battle piece, especially a boss battle. Perhaps adding some darker, more ominous tones in there could help counterbalance that.
No worries, also if you were a fan of Majora’s Mask, check out [urlhttp://www.terriblefate.com/] this [/url] - scroll down for the music, it’s all free to download.
Hey, i think you did an awesome job with the music. It is simply amazing and all the instruments blend well together. The only thing i feel isnt quite right is the fact that the building/exploring music is a bit too fast in my opinion. I feel like it would need to be just a little more calm and relaxing. But appart from that, great job and keep it up it’s amazing
@Geoffers747 I finally got the time to listen through that - it’s really well done. Makes me wish I had more time to record and incorporate interesting sounds into the stuff I’ve written…something to think about after I complete my current projects.
@DAWGaMims That could be interesting - although people could just mod the game and add new music if they wanted. I think the game would be best served by a dedicated person/small team of audio people. That way, there’s a shared vision and the soundtrack can be designed to be fluid and engaging, rather than a mash of several tunes from different people.
Of course, that wouldn’t prevent players from adding in their own music. Think about the possibilities - a zombie survival mod with psychotic horror music, or anything else you can imagine!
… huh… zombie survival mod… you could make a REALLY awesome zombie survival game outta this engine and using these mechanics! You could add in modern weapons if you wanted, but personally, I wouldn’t mind keeping it medieval… hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… At the very least, after release I’ll suggest it to people and hopefully we can get the community into making it. I say community because my vision for this thing would be more than a single person could make.
Hey there! Finally got around to creating another track. I took a little bit of a new approach - check it out below! (Also updated the first post with all 7 tracks).
The Swamp/ Cave music really makes me think of loking down at a huge mining operation, just hearing the sound of pickaxes on stone. But what do I know, I"m pretty much tone deaf so I really can’t say if anything’s good or bad! By the way, it’s awesome music. Keep it up!
