MoonSight's animation post!

I finally got the time to remake the walk cycle again!
used some tricks to get the legs to all be a little off-beat from one another and still keep a smooth loop

i’d Really like to hear some opinions on it either Good or Bad, maybe it’s a bit too wobbly?
anything unnatural that you see?
please to let me know, this was a interesting animation to make, and i’d love to know how it came out

This looks really good. The overall movement of the whole model looks more consistent now. There is only one thing, that sticks out a bit: the legs come down with a bit too much force. It looks like they are hitting the ground very hard (hope I get conveyed what I mean).

It looks really nice. Only one thing, the third leg looks a little bit lower than the rest. It could be because the point it hits the ground is farther away from the body than the others. Just my impression.

Have fun, Kyth.

Ah i see what you mean there, but it’s actually pretty intentional, or rather, it’s kind of a side effect of another factor.
Malley pointed out that spiders tend to have their legs on the ground about 2:3rds of the time with only a short air-time, which was what i went for here, i suppose i could try to go and soften the impact, but she is kinda heavy, considering she’d have a lot of legs and has a giant spider belly, so i considered it okay for her

thanks for pointing it out though!, i’ll definitely take it into consideration when i animate the normal spiders, whom are lighter and may need the touch you pointed out there

Nice catch! i didn’t even notice a thing until now!
that definitely is a thing i should try to fix, it’s just not right, the steep angle makes the leg look shorter than it actually is
thanks for pointing it out!

just to add to the list here’s the Sylph animation i did a bit ago

giphy

and here comes a old but also new face the Harpy!

idle

I decided to remake the model and animations(because of the model) since the original looked a little too much like a human, so i made her more of a human-shaped bird than a bird-armed human, this model’s color in particular looks a lot like a human because it’s similar to human skin color but i’m planning on adding more bird-esc colors like blue, red or white

also for comparison this is how the original Harpy looked like
idle old

(they’re also animated in the exact same length and rhythm, so you can actually see the two sync up)
