Hearthlings won't promote

Summary: I started a new game and tried to promote three of my hearthlings, but only one did and after a long delay. I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to put the tools in storage, but they won’t.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start a new game.
  2. Try to promote some Hearthlings.
  3. Nothing happens.

Expected Results: The Hearthlings get a job.

Actual Results: They continue on with their day.

Notes: As you can see, I have both items in my inventory (Used to have the Footman item) but they won’t promote.

Version Number and Mods in use: Release-687 and Frostfeast

(Okay, I just had to restart the game twice. I can’t figure out how to delete this post, so…sorry.)

I have had a similar issue with this in the past. The issue I had was that at the beginning of the game, the talisman (tools) are held by the Hearthlings. I would select trees and stuff to harvest before making a stockpile area and the Hearthlings that were holding the tools would run off to do those task with the tool in their back pack. Now I always pause the game place a stockpile and then have them drop all the tools before assigning harvesting tasks.
