Goblins disappearing during a raid

Summary:

Steps to reproduce:
Unsure how to reproduce, its only happening in my current game.

Expected Results:
Goblins move to attack

Actual Results:
Once the pathing hits a specific point they disappear,

How will they fix it

Is your town enclosed by fences or walls?
If the enemies spawn far away they might despawn before they reach your town, if they can’t find a path.

Yea my town in sealed off with a stone wall, but I’ve got a door too.

I have the same issue, it can be reproduced by several methods, if goblins can’t access a hearthling or a stockpile they simply go poof. So even just a building with a door seems to block them entirely from being able to even raid your settlement.

Note i’m running alpha 20, current build on the unstable branch.

I would love to see a system where when goblins attack they have a set amount of men in the camp and the camp wont leave until all the goblins are dead. I would also like to see them build ladders at least 4 or 5 blocks high in order to access your town instead of just poofing. and perhaps make it where normal doors can be ‘kicked open’ to access buildings where say mine doors and reinforced doors would be stronger and not so easily removed. At the very least let them turn back if their raid is unsuccessful, ya’know.

That’s probably the case, although I’ve ensured there always is a path inside (one of my walls has a hole).
I suspect there is a timer for the raid group to despawn and sometimes they just hit it before reaching me.
Anyway, it looks rather… strange.

On Alpha 19, this just happened to me for the first time. Actually I was attacking my first kobold village. When my troops reached their village, half of them went poof! Then I murdered everyone left.
