Fornjotr - Models mod R004

The bounding box is basically a photoshop slicing tool. It designates the total zone and independent operating zones so you can link them to stuff.

correct me if im wrong

Please make a guide / video instead. I want to know that, too o.o Im addicted to knowledge that brings you forward and is good for your creativity :jubilant:

i will!, it is one of my biggest goals of the summer :merry:
i will have it done, i will

i actually have models, files and notes so i can record and such, but i just had terrible luck with timing with either me having not enough time to record, or when i do, the rest of my family is home and itā€™s way to noisy to record, but iā€™m just dying for an opportunity

You will take one complete summer for one video? O.o I guess weā€™re thinking about different things

Hm. Whatā€™s about doing things like that while you have vacation or in the nighttime?

just saw that you live in korea btw do you even have vacations? anywhere in the year? O.o

ok is this the pictures you need?

ah, no i donā€™t mean to take the whole summer, itā€™s one of my goals now my grand plan(not that i have any)
itā€™s meant to be aā€¦ 20 or so long vedio at max (i think when i read the script in a rehearsing pace it took me about 10 or 15) and thereā€™ll be one for the program and add-on that i use and one for animations in general and how to animate for SH

well, if i was a Working age, which is 19 here in Korea, no, but iā€™m a student, so we have a summer break and iā€™m aiming for that time

Okay that sounds pretty interesting. Iā€™m looking forward for that video :stuck_out_tongue: I love education
(at least if itā€™s interesting cough school cough)

Okay cool^^

i have named all the matrixes now.
swamp_bear.qb (62.7 KB)

hmm, from what i see you probably made the model by moving whole matrixes of different size and putting them in place
and i donā€™t think QC has a ā€˜match all bounding boxesā€™ option, so weā€™ll have to do it manually

leave it to me and iā€™ll get it fixed up. just keep in mind when you make a new model, that you should always make the parts out of the same sized box, either by making a singe sculpture and slicing it via copying-deleting a part from one, and deleting the rest on the other, or making a lot of boxes and making them piece by piece

yes that is exactly how i made it  . a few days ago, i did not even know what matrixes was, when @Chabonit had some issues with my squirrel baldakin model heheā€¦

I will try and do how you describe in the future, but i just dont know all the tools enough in qubicle to do it yet i guess.

great, if you have any issues with how i described it in the future, let me know

also, would you mind me merging some of the matrixes like how many segments the body has? idonā€™t think they make for any better of an animation and itā€™ll probably save some time

thank you! No please do what is needed to make it come to life, i just made the matrixes without knowing if they were needed :jubilant:

Uhm, I think the idea of a bear in a swamp strange. I understand that it can be real (you guys even have pictures lol), but for games, it is better to focus on stereotypes. Alligators, snakes, etcā€¦

Are you guys planning on bringing this biome to life? If so, I can work in a fix for what I have to make it usable. The biome itself is heavy dependent on its assets anyway, most of the work would be on fauna and flora.

(So far, I have only made fireflys.)

Sorry, but who said you canā€™t break out of the stereotypy walls of games? I mean a bear is very common in some swamp areas. This isnā€™t even that far away from reality and being ā€œstereotypeā€. Itā€™s just sth. new and ā€œoriginal?ā€.

Btw. I think snakes would are too little. You wouldnā€™t see them. I mean rabbits are really small but snakes are just as small as a fly (flies are really small, too. You need a swarm of flies to make them useful but that would drastically decrease the gameā€™s performance. I think you should wait for that till the lighting update is out so you could maybe make a dynamic lightblock flying around. I guess thatā€™s not as much work as rendering a full entity than a little particle with an aura of light)

fixed_bear.obj.qb (2.5 MB)

hereā€™s the fixed version of the model, hopefully you can look into it and see what i meant

do you want me to animate right away?, i have no time left for today, but i could work on it asap tomorrow if you are confident in the use of this guy

also i agree with @BrunoSupremo critters are good and all, but aligators and snakes, perhaps even slimes are more of a staple to swamps, bears are more jungl-y or forset-y

trees grass and such are much more important in thees esthetics

@Hiroyugane_DE i think he means that some animals are attributed to the concept of ā€˜swampā€™ more than others, a good fantasy or virtual place should be believable to all playes, and most (including myself) donā€™t attribute the bear as a swamp animal, the word stereotype is a little hard, but iā€™d say ā€˜attributionā€™ or ā€˜common understandingā€™ and snakes are huge, like anacondaā€™s or cobras are the size of a human in length (even more for an anaconda)

If you would do that it would be really great @BrunoSupremo ! I agree that the bear is not the typical swamp creature, but i just wanted to bring it to life!
But what i really dream of, is to create a goblin race, not nescesarily the goblins we encounter in the game, but maybe another fraction of swamp goblins that we can play as?
Varanuses and snakes, a whole new set of fauna and atmosphere and so onā€¦ I cant do this by myself, but if the modding community would come together, i am sure we could make something quite uniqe for the playerbase?

Calm down Hiro, nowhere I said we canā€™t break out stereotypes. Besides, you just did the same thing saying that snakes are smallā€¦ Who said I was talking about small snakes? :stuck_out_tongue:
And the fireflys are ambient mobs, they are cubemitters at night, so you see a lot of little green dots flying in the forest.

I would love to see this bear alive, it might not be the swamp it fits into, but i am sure that a bear can fit into one of the biomes we already have?

EDIT: ok i see what you mean now. I have no idea how you did it, but i understand what you mean by boundingbox versus matrix at least :merry:
