[DEVELOP-2650 (x64)] Map Submission

Hey Team Radiant,

I have an issue with my game, and I’m a little curious as to what the problem is. With that, I’d like to submit my map to you guys. Hopefully it can help your development in any sort of way.

My issue is that, after starting a map in, I believe it was DEVELOP-2637 (x64), and now being in DEVELOP-2650 (x64), I’ve noticed that the bar, which indicates which parts of the engine are working (i.e.; idle, lua, pathfinding, etc.) is now mostly green/idle. However, it seems that I have an extraordinary amount of lag, especially during the night time.

Honestly, me going on any further about my issue, with my severe lack of computer knowledge, will probably just cause more harm than good. So with that, if you have questions, please feel free to contact me any time!

In addition, if you don’t the same issue I have, mainly just lag, I’m thinking it’s just my PC performance ability. So here are my computer, I think the term is, ‘specs:’

Windows Editions:

Windows 8.1.

System:

Processor- Intel® Core™ i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.40 GHz

Installed Memory (RAM)- 8.00 GB (7.89 Usable)

System Type- 64-bit Operating System, x64 based processor.

And… I think that should about do it. Probably not. Again, if you need anything else, just let me know!

Thanks,
Surly

My Submission:

Hey there @DontCallMeSurly, this seems to be more of a Performance related report than a Bug Reports one: http://discourse.stonehearth.net/c/support/performance. Also, it seems to play fine on my PC, did you by chance have the game open for a long time when you started noticing the lag? I have seen some memory leak issues in the latest build, so that might be your issue…

Hey @jomaxro,

Thanks for taking a look at my game. Another thanks for the correction of my issue. The title has been fixed.

Then finally, to answer your question, no, actually surprisingly I noticed the lag after loading the game from the start at a random interval.

But I figured as much it was a performance issue; I was just curious.

Thanks!,
Surly

If you are getting a lot of lag at night, it may be due to the performance of your graphics card (which you didn’t talk about). With all the camp fires and lanterns and braziers at night, some fairly complex lighting calculations can be happening.

Also, looking at the screenshot of your save in your dropbox, it looks like you have built some fairly complicated terrain with your farms and roads. The finer the detail you put in, the more difficulty your CPU and graphics card will have handling all the calculations for it. It’s especially hard on the pathfinding algorithm (on CPU) to have a very complex terrain.

Hey All
Yeah performance is still big issue which still makes game unplayable, especially this has big impact on RAM, start running any performance program and you will see that for beggining games takes 4,7gb ram then each 10 min it will take another 100mb and will not clear it ever(only when restarting game), i just cant go over 10 citizens… i checked it on q6600 - 4gb ram and on i5 with 8gb ram, still waiting for better performance to be able to even build a couple of houses…
Game have big potential but right now is unplayable you need to have fun from game not to that the game will make you mad.

hmm… @Xergoos that sounds like a memory leek, the game shouldnt be taking that much RAM.

does that happens even with a fresh world?

Yep it happens from beggining , so new world, loaded world no any difference, then when you close the game check performance of Harddrive it goes 100% for 2-3min on normal HD or like 30sec on SSD drive which block computer even when RAM wasnt filled till end.

more stuff you have in your stock faster the ram going to burn.

I also have this problem D:

Gotta love english…

That sounds like an error running in the background…

Paging @Albert just in case

oh gosh… i must not have had coffee yet… or i’m just really terrible with spelling
