[Dev Blog] Desktop Tuesday, Graphics Test v2 Released

welcome aboard @ChrisACurry!

I’ve taken the liberty of editing your post, to directly embed your images… it just takes a bit of time before you’re able to do that yourself …

excellent feedback, by the way…

Thanks, @SteveAdamo!

edit: Left it running over night. Over 10 hours and still going strong.

Memory leaks don’t seem to be a problem either: 207,000k last night, 217,000k this morning.
Processor usage is wonky (possibly related to the vsync issue):

  • Minimized the application takes 14% overall (roughly 80% of one logical processor…i7 here)
  • Non-minimized it takes 7% overall (roughly 30% of one logical processor)

Whether or not you can actually see any part of the window makes no difference…only whether or not it is minimized.

Below screen shot captures the difference (usage on the 7th logical processor captures Stonehearth running, then being minimized…when it is maximized, the OS switched it to the 8th logical processor [and usage returned to the same level as pre-minimization]):

with all the excitement over getting the second test, i completely missed this part of the update:

along with some infrastructure work to ensure that we can push out new builds seamlessly

needless to say, this sounds very promising for rapid delivery of new builds, point releases, etc. :+1:

… and hopefully there will be some resources left to install a more professional bug-tracking and even a translation-tool . Otherwise you might need to ask for a rise in salary with the start of Alpha 1 :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

@Tom has assured me that my lifetime supply of post-it notes should arrive any day now…

but yes, a more robust reporting system than the forums would be ideal… time will tell i suppose… and @Geoffers747 and i are counting on folks like you to continue setting a good example… no pressure, of course…

You can try to seduce me either by throwing in some of your yellow swag or by wearing the short, black…

I found another z-fighting issue with this release. I used the default seed “1337”.

Guess I’m not allowed to post images. So, copy and paste?

new members arent allowed to perform certain steps initially… edited your post to directly embed the image though…

Eight Cores? Sounds like an 8350 or you’re using a workstation. :open_mouth:

It’s an i7. Hyperthreading makes it look like 8 cores, but there are only 4 physical cores.

Read more here: Hyper-threading - Wikipedia

Yeah I know what hyperthreading is but never had an Intel CPU with hyperthreading, didn’t realize it’s displayed like that.

obviously my favourite one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Upon opening the program, a window appears headed as the Graphics Test, but moves to the upper-left corner and remains blank white. Another window, smaller, appears in the center of the screen, headed
"Stonehearth Assertion Failed",
and containing the words
"error==GL_NO_ERROR".
After clicking the solitary OK button on the window, a second window takes its place, headed
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
and reading
"Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stonehearth\Stonehearth.exe
abnormal program termination".
Upon clicking the also solitary OK, both the first and last windows disappear. What’s up?

sorry you’re experiencing this issue, but it has been reported, and others have had the same bug…

feel free to “like” the report, or, if you have any additional information, feel free to toss it in there as well…

thanks!
