Custom Building Won't Start

So to start With I got the game today and I love it besides the fact that I tried to build this amazing stone castle for defenses and I got it all built but when I click “finish editing” and then “Build” it won’t build. Also Sometimes there is a glitch of sorts where when I’m planning to build a building I would say put down a chair and then want to remove it but it wont remove. I can’t delete it in any way and I tried re opening the game but that does not work either.

The game gave me this code or something and I’m not sure what exactly its used for but here it is:

ok a few questions

1: is it in a location where the hearthlings (your people) can actually get to on their own?

2: do you have the necessary materials to even build the structure in the first place?

3: if you don’t have the necessary materials do you have someone in the professions needed to craft those materials needed to build it? (example being bricks made from clay by the potter) the people who do these jobs will automatically add these things to their Que when you start making a building even if you have SOME of what’s needed for the building but if the hearthling doing their job isn’t the level needed to make these things (example Potter level 2 to make a type of window or something) than they won’t craft those things because they CAN’T yet.

look at your hearthlings, look at your building, and look at the area you’re building or attempting to build it in and make sure you have these 3 questions answered then come back and respond.

1: I do, I have a latter going up to the area
2: I have the 107 Stone needed, I don’t have any of the furniture or decor like lamps and tables built but should have the materials for it.

when I click construct, It kicks me out of the panel and instead of it saying pause construction; it says finish layout and then I have to click Start again. And the cycle keeps going.

A picture or a save file would be really helpful in determining how to help you @kecin25

yes very true a picture or the save file would be making this far easier. if i had to guess it’s missing something that would make a building truly ready to be built.

tho then again you’re fully capable of just building a single block of stone and save that as a “building” lol

Sad to say I deleted the save file (Out of frustration) but I Will try to remake it.

well when building a structure regardless of what stage it’s in i’d always suggest saving the structure as a custom building so you can edit it further later. i especially do this when i suspect the game is getting close to crashing or getting buggy with errors and stuff so i save the structure i’m designing save the game then close and reload it.

Whenever you want to post about a bug it’s very important to keep the save file so that TR can help remove the bug for future updates or even so that we the community can help you out so you don’t get to that point of frustration.

One trick i use to avoid devastating game ending bugs is to save before i start on a building, and i also build my buildings in stages so they end up being several buildings to be one bigger building. unfortunately the game really dislikes massive structures that are all one template and usually it’s incredibly difficult to find the problem the bigger the structure is.

How do I access the save file so I can upload it?

Hello @kecin25, to upload the savefile:

  1. Find the save folder for the saves you wish to upload. By default, they are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install).
  2. Zip the folder.
  3. Right click the folder (should be a long set of numbers).
  4. Left click on Send to in the menu that appears.
  5. Left click on `Compressed (Zipped) folder).
  6. (Optional) Rename the folder to something different than the default set of numbers.
  7. Upload the save.
  8. If the zip is less than 10 MB, you can upload it directly. Either use the upload button or drag and drop it into the compose window,
  9. If larger than 10 MB, upload it to a cloud storage site like Dropbox, Google Drive, File Dropper, etc. and post the sharing link here.

Sorry It took so Long for me to reply, the Notification email got sent to my spam folder.
