My villagers like to add one… maybe 2 windows. Then they decide it’s a stupid idea and don’t add anymore. I mean… who am I to question their design logic anyway?
I had my little people building a house but never built the doors or windows, just quit. and removed scaffold.
did you have your carpenter make windows and doors first? you have to have those items for them to be used
I’m no longer having this bug as of Alpha 4 r122
Can anyone else confirm this?
Anyone still having issues?
I can confirm, they built the door and windows perfectly into my first house. Granted, that’s only one house, but I haven’t seen one completely done like that before. [TODO: video coming]
I’ve built 15 or so houses so far, each time the doors and windows have been placed with no issue.
Ooo. Screenshot? That’s a lot of houses.
finger hovers over the [Res] button
Not sure a report by one person is enough to resolve it yet .
@Froggy, were those 15 houses in the same world or different ones?
It wasn’t one person though, there were @Avairian and @Phagocytosis (myself) as well. Perhaps once my video is up, that will be sufficient evidence?
hence the “hovering”…
we’ll wait for some more confirmations…
I’m at 3 houses no problems. Except the building mode locks up on me sometimes and I have to save/load.
But if that doesn’t break, the windows and doors work fine.
8 in one world, 7 in the other.
OCD demands that they are all of equal size!!1
Just tried the latest Steam branch, and I’m getting the same problem :L
If I try to build them in the planning view, scaffolding can either be taken down or left up. Either way, doodads don’t get installed :c
If I construct the building first, and then try to add in the doors and stuff, they build scaffolding all over that side of the wall and leave it! :c
Still present in r1658. However it seems to be narrowed down for me. If i designate the whole building to be built with one particular type of wall (all plaster or all wood) the doodads are placed fine.
However if I designate different types for different walls, the doors/windows only get built on the type of wall that was originally put up.
For example:
I build a square floor plan and use the Raise Walls tool to raise plaster walls all around it. Then right click to deselect the tool, left click on the north (or south, or east, doesn’t matter) wall so it’s highlighted and click the wood wall design in the build menu. The north wall is now designated to be built of wood. Different from the rest.
However the doodads will only be placed on the 3 plaster walls that were originally designed with the Raise Wall tool. And not the wood wall that was changed.
Perhaps the issue lies with changing the wall type and trying to build the building with different types of wall.
You need a stockpile that accepts construction items. Windows and doors go to the stockpile first, then builders pick them up from there. Took me ages to figure that out.
I’ve found that when creating your own building in order to get the Hearthlings to place the objects, not just the walls floor and roof, you have to finish making it then exit the building designer completely. Go back and click on the building in design mode. You then have to make sure, before you finalize, that the windows doors and lights are all on the ‘need materials’ list off to the left.
I’m still having this problem, though i haven’t had a chance to try the workarounds. In my most recent game, the first building completed flawlessly and the second went all weird. It’s the most frustrating bug at the moment because there’s no way to fix it. I just get stuck with a partially incomplete building. :\ Can’t knock it down to start over or anything.
Could anyone at Radiant offer a more detailed explanation of the Hearthling logic during the build process - the calls/requests it makes to make Hearthlings to grab the requisite pieces and place them? Maybe that’d help illuminate the source of the issue.
Same problem in alpha 18 : they build the house, set the windows up but don’t want to build the doors althoughas you can see they are ready, just next to the building. 15 days later, they still didn’t. I already took the decision to not add decorations because it caused the same issu, do i must do the same for doors and windows ?
Welcome to the forum, @arthur.
Could you upload your savefile and / or building template so that we can take a look?
