On another note, there’s threads about anime, about cartoons, etc etc… I don’t see why one about MLP:FiM shouldn’t exist.

If you want to talk about the quality of animation, the story crafting, or the more technical aspects of the show, I’ll probably join in. If you want to rave about your favorite character or discuss some particular aspect of the fandom, you’re still welcome to do that but I’ll probably sit out of that discussion.

Personally, I love the art style of the ponies. I like the colours, which seem to match the personalities (yellow+pink+dim=shy). That’s one of my favourite parts, actually. I love the animation, too (especially since it’s done in flash !) but I just love the artwork way more.

On that note I learned something surprising about MLP a few months back. The entire show is done in flash. No I am not joking. I have not really seen such quality out of flash anything before but the studio in question is really good at it.
Another show they made that I liked was “Pucca” and it was always fun to watch.

This really was the case of the character designer doing their job right. Whether or not you agree with the characterizations (i.e. are they stereotypes or not), the characters are immediately recognizable even when they are in a different form. This is one aspect that is apparent in the fandom when they humanize them or change their gender. If the artist has any clue (and even usually if they don’t) you can always tell which character is which. My daughters show me this. They put five blue Duplo together and it is Rainbow Dash. Five red Duplo is Pinkie Pie; five white is Rarity; Five yellow is Fluttershy or Apple Jack (That one is harder at such low resolution 
).
My Little Pony is an example of good character design for anyone interested in creating their own characters (for animation, comics, or whatever). The designs are simple, but hold enough distinct information that you know exactly which character is which even when they are in different outfits.
(This is probably something to think about also if you are a modder trying to make your own things for Stonehearth. I hear Tom/Tony bring this up a lot; how do you to put in just enough information in a Qubicle model for an item/person/animal to be distinct without overloading detail that will get lost at low resolution.)
Yeah. But actually, if you think about, they’re not really, overly, properly stereotypical. Rainbow Dash is a girl, who likes to race (even if she is a tomboy) but also likes rainbows… weird. And Rarity+generosity=mind blown.
I don’t want to start a retarded ‘best pony’ debate (Fluttershy ;)) but I actually think the only pony I do not like too much (not that I dislike her) is Apple Jack; she appeals to her stereotype way too much and … I don’t know, maybe that’s just my character-likes opinions speaking.
Oh, a nice topic is Equestria Girls! Did you guys like it, hate it, not care about or what? Personally, I went into thinking ‘ehhh, well I have nothing better to do so this time won’t matter anyway’ and came out thinking ‘that was actually alright’. It was probably an above average film, but it kind of sucked considering it was part of the MLP:FiM series. I mean, cliche characters; cliche storyline; series characters not appealing to how they should (Fluttershy isn’t shy at all, Snips and Snails are evil over foolish, etc)
It wasn’t bad. The music was nice and the gags reasonably entertaining. I like the fact that it is based on more current school setting (Cellphone being used properly) and the diversity of the groups. I was also happy that they did not overly display cliques.
They also displayed high school rather well. Many teens jumping to conclusions without facts. Teens being manipulative. Teens being brats, and suddenly this is me ranting about how much I hated highschool.
I’m gonna be quiet now.
If cliques exist, they’re being overly displayed. Doesn’t happen in real life… ever. Personally, barely any of my friends (especially not my best friends) share too many interests with me… we’re not a clique and I haven’t even seen them beyond the group of guys trying to be hard nuts - and even they share conversations with other people around the schools.
What school did you go to? Hehe :).

Quick googling suggests that http://www.animeflavor.com/node/24985 might work. Generally if you’re willing to sit through some ads you can find ways to watch online for free, legally.
