Brony Thread - Any MLP fans?

Just remember that other than the cartoony style and keeping it below PG stuff it’s got some really scary stuff in it. Stuff that could be really, really cool in Stonehearth, like what basically amounts to giant armies of soul devouring, telepathic, shape shifting, giant flying bug monsters. Technically they just devour specific positive emotions but still (might be worse actually), they’re basically just a dementor zerg hybrid, we should totally put that kind of awesome in there. Imagine if every migrant or trader could actually be a monster in disguise, slowly feeding off your villagers love for life, each other and themselves, removing so that they all gradually gain extreme depression and psychopathy. Sounds like !FUN!

im trying to visualize this, in a my little pony universe (which is what i believe you are referring to?), and having a hard time making my brain do the work…

Why are ponies keeping cattle? I… I don’t understand. Someone kill me now. I can’t live with myself anymore.

They’re known as changelings, they have a kind of hive mind, are shown to be able to use mind control, can change their appearance (I’m pretty sure it’s only shown for ponies but presumably other races as well) feed off love in a very poorly explained way, and look like a vampiric insectoid alicorn, technically they’re only really giant compared to normal bugs but a 4 foot tall bug is plenty giant to me. They’re leader is also one of the more popular villains and according to wiki the only one not confirmed dead or turned good.

They should just invent guns and win.

Another reason I like MLP, it is utter pun filled nonsense, the way cartoons are supposed to be. Not toddler fodder, not mindless content that has you picking up your .44 and putting an end to your TV.

Puns, funny story, and an ocasional tribute to Bugs Bunny when Pinkie Pie decides she is in a trolly mood.

On that note… Why isn’t Bugs Bunny on TV anymore!? :frowning:

Soccer moms screamed “OH MY GOODNESS LOOK AT THIS VIOLENCE” about Looney Toons, so they kind of died off.

Right, I keep forgetting the country is full of traitors who decided 50 years of flawless service wasn’t good enough. Honestly so many people grew up on loony toons and it get offed because of a bunch of whiney parents who proved they couldn’t rais their kids themselves.

I think that inventing guns to fight an army of mind controlling telepathic shapeshifters could go badly. Really, really badly.

I now fully respect this guy for knowing that!

Actually, in that series of episodes they did invent a gun. A Gatling gun. And the way they created it is possibly one of the scariest sights in the show if you are not in the right mood (zany or completely insane).

Yes, it’s called unicorn magic.

Seems kinda nifty. Although remember that given my past ideas dissecting and building a cyborg gatling gun-twilight sparkle hybrid is totally something I’d say is a good idea, much like my 1300m long titans that devour buildings whole. In fact it gives me an idea that I might have to try in the very near future. As for them losing I’m going to put that down entirely to narrativium, under normal circumstances a group of 6 skilled civilians does not take out an army, even if it’s stupid and particularly if they have shapeshifting and possibly even an actual military structure. However The plot strikes and thus they lose and the librarian, apple farmer, vet, party planner, seamstress, and what basically amounts to a meteorologist defeat them.

In Stonehearth you don’t have a plot on your side anywhere near as much, in fact it could make it positively interesting, then again with internet expansion and structure it’s basically guaranteed that sooner or later if the game survives it will get an MLP mode. We just need to make sure it’s done right, than it could be properly good and actually interesting to play if it’s not just a reskin.

No need to worry. The six civilians didn’t defeat the army. They lost and were captured. What defeated the army was a psychic-energy fueled protection spell cast by two other (non-main) characters that took out the hive-mind Queen first and blasted all other hive members away. (Apparently it was species selective.) Actually not as “deus ex machina” as is usually seen when small groups take on huge armies.

If you reskinned the episodes with wizards/witches, demonic-visaged invaders, and other traditional fantasy fare, (and if you removed some of the slap-stick and singing) you would find that the story is not out of place or hackneyed. But it is skinned with ponies, so it is insane.

Mmm. Considering that it was powered by an Alicorn (Which are several orders of magnitude more powerful than unicorns based off Luna and Celestia (They might just be god like in power though even for alicorns)) and presumably one of the most powerful unicorns I’d almost be willing to let it go, BUT Cadence’s Alicorness is based off Love (As opposed to Stars, Moon, or Magic) and it’s specifically stated in the scene that she helps power it with Love. Changelings feed off Love, It’s literally the source of their power and somehow an attack which should be near made of magically enhanced love somehow destroys their leader. Clearly you’d need an explanation for how their feeding works because it’s kinda dodgy as is.

I meant for the mind controlling pony zombies to invent guns.

If we are talking about actually adding things from MLP in I think they should be spoofs. Like this idea.

The Harmony Barrier.

In this campaign your town is at risk of being consumed from within do to a plague that causes your citizens to go insane. The only way to stop it is to erect a barrier around the town.

The Barrier is powered via six totems, each totem must be blessed by a spacific god. Once this is accomplished the harmony barrier is complete and your town is safe.

Something like that. it is a reference to MLP but it would be built around existing game mechanics. Now I just pulled that out of thin air so I am not sure how much of that is possible or if there will even be gods in the game but that is just an example.

how about elements instead of gods?

note: I am a new member and a mild MLP fan.

well, welcome aboard @PWNatorPWNED!

it’s ok… we dont judge people here… except for @Geoffers747… but he’s weird, so again, it’s OK…
