That looks awesome!
The models look great! However, do you plan for them all to have disembodied limbs, or are you going to connect them in a future time?
wow, you are indeed! love the animation … even threw in an animated mane? well done!
If god didn’t mean for there to be disembodied limbs, he wouldn’t have made people with floating extremities.
Seriously though, I’m not trying to make the world’s most realistic horse; I’m trying to make a horse that looks like it belongs in Stonehearth. That means cartoony and cute and full of voxels and minimally connected to reality. So yeah, the floating feet are here to stay.
@ everyone else: Thanks for the kind words! A yak or ox IS on my list of possible animals to do, but since the devs have said they’ll have yaks, I’d like to see what they come up with before I start trying to change it up. I do certainly hope to make a mod that’ll get my horses out there when the time comes and the tools are available.
A color variant: a true white horse (no pigment in skin or hair). Most of the “white” horses you see are technically gray and look a lot more normal. I’ll be making a pale gray horse too, but this guy is useful for helping me do coat patterns as in spotted horses.
wow, i really like your modeling work! the hooves, pink muzzle, clump of hair on its head… loving the details…
if i may make a small suggestion… the eyes are not exactly in the SH style… the original models that @Tom created had the “pupil”, but that has since been changed to a solid eye color… and im not sure if there are any other models with eyes that protrude from the head… have you tried having the eyes flush with the side of the head, and perhaps pushed one pixel forward?
regardless, i expect to see these in-game soon!
It would look very derpy then
In a stream where tom showed a deer it looked derpy atleast
thats an excellent point…
still, would be curious to see how the solid eye color/flush eye might look…
Hmm… perhaps more accurately named the “Albino Horse”?
If that we’re so, then the eyes would be red. Right?
@ SteveAdamo: You’re right, but horses have side-facing eyes, unlike all the other critters I’ve seen in Stonehearth (wolves and humanoids have forward-facing eyes). I’m going to wait until I see a similar critter to change up too much.
My intent with the colors there was to add a highlight, indicating depth in the eye, rather than a pupil. I may have to change it up later though, you’re right. Either way, I’ll mock up one that has the style you suggested later and post it here.
@ DoomPriest: I don’t suppose you could link that deer? I’d like to see how it was handled.
@ Swift_Cube: Technically no! There is no known albino gene in horses, weirdly enough. I based my model on this handsome fellow: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8b/DominantWhiteHorsesD.jpg
White horses have, of all things, blue eyes, unlike the very dark brown eyes of normal horses. This is particularly startling when you see horses with a white patch over one eye but not the other - the eye surrounded by white fur will be blue!
i know there’s an image floating around here somewhere… in the interim, this may or may not be the deer, lovingly recreated by @Relyss …
Yeah, thats the exact same deer i’ve seen on a radiant stream. (Can’t seem to find it atm.)
It’s not really that exact (at least concerning colors).
And… we do have critters with side-facing eyes, remember the birds, for example.
Hey, not bad! I guess I’ll keep it.
yes! (my super-awesome suggestion aside) this looks much better! and certainly fits with the SH theme… solid eye color, in-line with the head/face…
very nicely done!
Can you do a lighter background, so that it won’t be so hard to tell the difference? Thanks
I really like them especially the mythical armour one and the beige armour one because it looks so much like a messenger scout of spy
