By the way, anyone noticed problems with the archers? I mean, it’s sort of annoying my rangers do not want to throw arrows at the top of a build( tower, a simple block tower without nothing!). I mean, they throw one arrow and then stop attacking and walk normally in that place ignoring any type of mob or enemy nearby. It’s a little bit no sense for me, I did a lot of different towers and all my archers prefer to go down all the towers or buildings to shoot enemies at the ground. It’s a bit weird, though. Is someone having a similar problem?
Ps: I have been making some experiments and i noticed that even if i block their way out of this platform, which has 6 blocks ( 1 floor high), they keep ignoring any type of enemy. I don’t know if they knew about this bug, but it is happening with a high frequency on my games, i hope they fix it as soon as possible .
Archers want to maintain a certain distance from the enemy, so they more as necessary when fighting. There have been multiple suggestions in the past for a better “stand here” mechanism, as defend location is too big for archer towers. As for ignoring enemies, that shouldn’t happen if they are in range and line of sight. Can you share a screenshot of this?
This is what I have been telling you about the Archers. This guy entered in combat mode, he shot an arrow against the enemy and suddenly start walking down the wall. The wall has one floor high, the enemy is in their range as you can see on the photo. However, he just suddenly gave up and walked away.
By the way, I did one experiment. I put one archer and one goblin in different terrain levels. So, I placed an archer on a mountain and an enemy on the ground below. The result was different, the archer fired the enemy at the death. However, if i build an solid block with the same height and place an archer there, he won’t shot. It’s an strange bug, if they are on the ground they keep firing even if I do some changes on the final of the floor. I mean, when i build something next to the ground’s edge, the transition between levels.
Nice testing! If I recall correctly @Albert did most of the projectile work. He’s neck deep in hydrology fixes at the moment, but he might have more questions for you about this.
The logic that archers use to attack from towers is really primitive right now. It only searches one location to attack from and doesn’t do well with battlements.
The current best practice is not to use battlements and to have the archer in a defense zone on top of the tower.
We’d also love to use your save for testing if you want to post it.
To upload a save, locate the folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install), zip the individual save’s folder (not the entire saved_games folder), and upload it. If the *.zip is less than 10 MB, feel free to upload it directly to the Discourse. If larger, please upload it to a cloud storage site like Dropbox, Google Drive, File Dropper, etc. and post the sharing link here.
I uploaded it on a cloud storage, because for some reason the Discourse website does not allow “.rar”. Anyway, I love your job and your game guys. I hope it launch soon , I’m really excited to know about the new contentment. So, talking about the unit system mechanism, I have an suggestion, have you ever played the gold and old Age of Empires 2?
I mean, I do not want to any of you guys copy a system or something like that. But I would love to see something similar, in that strategic game units can be move with the right/left button and it’s really simple and functional to command it. In addition, you can command them to stay on guard mode, attack mode, patrol, ignore the enemy ( famous hype style ) and etc. It’s a pretty simple platform command due to the year of the game’s launch (1998).
Oh! By the way, you can notice in my save that I had some issues with the placement of Torrents and Shooters. I don’t know certainly why I’m having it. I mean, when enemies destroy those items, the engineer does not replace that, even if I still have an storage of it. And, some of my templates, such as the towers that you may see were build by the " console " command, because it does not build ( citizens stay idle ).
I wondered if those informations help the game development and good luck for you guys
