A Song of Ice and Fire

I love this idea. Don’t abandon it and pursue it! Sounds really amazing as it can expand the game!

Well, there is Ice. Of course, that would require potentially snubbing the King, or metagaming a bit if you intended to keep it.

Otherwise, I think you might have the benefit of say, a leg up on theological or folkloric research and technology to deal with them. Unlike everyone else, YOU still have stories and old books hinting about how to deal with them. You could also say, have troops that were less overawed by them because the fairy tales seemed a lot more real, or they occasionally heard about a cousin’s cousin who saw one, or that Great Great Grandad did. They’d still be scared, but not as scared as others who would be completely surprised by Walkers.

I guess you could also make House Stark considerably less gimped in Winter because they have actual cold, and appropriate responses clothing and housing wise. Of course, they might also suck eggs to a greater and greater degree the farther south you take them. Especially in Dorne. So if you were messing with Dorne, your troops would be miserable. (And visa versa. I’m thinking everyone BUT Dorne would suck in Dorne, but Dornish soldiers and settlements would require a lot of catch up tech wise or just have to deal with it being Bad for them up north if they went north.)

The Starks would also benefit from having a comparatively large base of allies and vassals. Pretty much everyone in the North answers to them. Also, another thing is they worship the Old Gods. So do the Wildings. That would make for much easier diplomacy. The Wildings would no doubt still consider the Starks to be kind of wimpy, but sharing the same basic religion would help.

Am I the only one who thinks voxel based Starks would be cool?
God **** if I knew programming I’d make it happen myself
Unfortunately I’m a drama student in high school who is failing maths. I think code is beyond me

Show some love someone get this idea happening? For gods sake.

Nope

This really got my hopes up when I saw that this thread was alive, and then NOPE…

Although hopefully this will bring some new ideas or new people in who want to work on this? I dunno…

Yes it did for me at least, being relatively new to the forums, I didn’t know about this (and a lot of other old threads).
It certainly would be a mod I would help build if need be (and if I had any talent that is).

Now for one or two quotes:

That sounds a lot like the mechanic used in travian servers (or at least when I still played on them years ago).
And after a year irl on the server, most big alliances kind of get into an uneasy cease-fire because the big bad global enemy faction is coming to the server to kill everyone  and eventhough they usually come from one corner of the map, everyone ships in to help or everyone is gonna be burned down…
So even if you are on the safe side of the map, you usually end up sending all your army to defend the cities on the front lines, cause when those burn down yours are next, sending your armies to the front line also slows down the enemy, making it possible to make more soldiers and eventually last longer.

And rated content too? I don’t know how it is in the books (I have them but never got the time to read them…), but the tv series had some pretty hardcore visuals/themes :see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil:

FFA in StarCraft teaches us that it’s usually a trap, especially if the other player is a friend… that backstabber dropped on my main base before I could do it myself… there’s no honor anymore :weary:

as soon as i wrap up the Codex Alera series (thanks @sdee!), i intend to get the last book in this series, and polish it off… then, with any luck, i can be of some small assistance on the project… if nothing else, i will shake my pom-poms on the sidelines like its nobody’s business… :dancer:

Well … until GRRM finishes with the next two!

hahah… good point… he’s (literally) under the gun to write a bit faster, as the series is progressing at a pace faster than he is able to write… last i heard, he as at 1600 pages and counting…

the man is a machine…

Is THAT why I’m not allowed into the side-door in the basement? I thought I heard furious typing the last time I was down there…

Ha definitely, I read somewhere that he’s told the producers key plot points incase something unfortunate was to happen to him!

Do you think we’ve derailed this? Sorry @Froggy :frowning:

There’s nothing wrong with a little derailment…however

I have every intention of revisiting my mod idea. It’s simply on the back burner for now until at least we see what tools are available to us.

I don’t want this to simply be a re-skin mod and so I’m waiting for more information while working on other things…

I’m not sure I understand what you meant with that but it’s probably funny

Like having a special “hand of the king” unit: has some special powers but dies after a week

What you need is Zombie-Wight things that attack the North so the North is preoccupied and Dragons + Sellswords attacking Dorne meanwhile the middle of Westeros is a massive struggle for power or some AI faction trying to take everything over (Lannisters as a suggestion) this way your fighting battles on all sides and your not just reinforcing one area

let’s just say i am really excited about seeing one of these secret projects @Froggy is working on… of course, that means i have to get my tail in gear as well…

Shhh, it’s a secret!
