Title: Workers endlessly walking into wall while building next to a mountain/wall
Summary: If you start building a house (custom designed in my case) exactly against a wall (natural one in my case) the workers will start to endlessly wander against the wall when the try to set up the second floor and never finish the building. Mostly game breaking as I found no workaround except loading before starting building the house.
Steps to reproduce:
Have a clean wall (meaning tall enough to test it and perfectly smooth)
Build a house just NEXT to the wall (no space between wall and house’s wall)
Add a second floor while designing the house (seems to be important for this bug to happen)
Wait until workers get to second floor
Expected Results: The building should be built properly and the hearthlings should return doing whatever they have to do.
Actual Results: Workers being stuck endlessly walking into walls doing nothing.
Notes: Possibly linked to custom buildings only, and most likely because of the lack of space between the wall and the building.
First, thank you so much for using the bug report template! It really is helpful to the developers when they are working to resolve bug reports.
There have been issues reported before in regards to building directly next to another structure or terrain, but most were resolved with interior scaffolding. Your step 3, however, leads me to believe that this has to do with second (or greater) floor issues, which do still have some active bugs.
As a developer myself I understand well the interest of following your pattern so you can have a proper bug tracker.
So I tested it again with a plain grounded building (no additional floor) letting 1 block of space between the wall and the building, and a similar bug happened. They just stopped building and went back doing something else. I tried multiple fixes, like mining 1 block more to get a 2 blocks space between the wall and the building, or setting up more ladders but it didn’t work. I hope this helps!
Well you are really lucky that I never overwritten my save games and only created new files. I will need some time to sort them out but I will upload what I can. Could you tell me where to find them please?
Absolutely! Assuming you installed via Steam, they will be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games. The folders are each different saves, and the name of the folder is related to the time you saved the game. Inside the folder the metadata.json file (open in notepad) will give you the save name and some other useful information in figuring out which save is which.
Also, the save folders are likely too big to be uploaded directly, so using a file sharing site like Dropbox, Google Drive, or File Dropper is recommended. Just paste the sharing link into your reply.
