When I place the flag for my town, the game crashes

Summary:
The game runs fine when just looking around the map even with full draw distance, but as soon as I place the flag for my town the music still plays but the game crashes.

Hey there @MacCuUladh, welcome to the Discourse! Sorry to hear about the game crashes, let’s see if we can get it working for you.

First, can you try switching from 32 bit mode to 64 bit mode in the game settings? There are many issues with 32 bit mode, particularly with memory, so that is a good first step.

Tried that there now and it ran a little longer but crashed with a black screen and the music playing in the background. Thank you for the speedy help.

Hmm…so you were able to place the flag, the game ran briefly, and then crashed to a black screen?

Or the game crashed briefly after placing the flag, and upon launching again you encountered a black screen?

I placed the flag, then I was able to send the workers to harvest wood for a minute or so and then the game crashed. I followed the instructions for the main crash avoidance such as updating drivers, removing adblock.

Great. You mentioned in your first post you were unable to find a crash.dmp. Is isn’t always created, but just to be sure you looked in the same folder as your log, correct?

There is a crash_reporter in the stonehearth folder, but I wasn’t sure if that is what it was referring to.

Nope, that’s different. As the game ran longer (slightly), can you please relaunch the game, create a new game, play until it crashes, and then upload a new copy of your log?

I would also try to verify the integrity of the game (if your launching from Steam)

  1. Open Library

  2. Right click Stonehearth

  3. Go to Properties

  4. On the to tab go to “Local Files”

  5. Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache
