The Stonehearth Graphics Test Thread

Ah, my apologies. I always forget that there is an edit button. As for the iOS thing, that was a mental typo, thanks for correcting it. I can see how that would have caused some confusion.

Sounds good to me! I guess we should put in a note that you should only “like” the bug if you’ve seen it yourself.

Belive these have already been reported by other users but, not able to select workers/bunnies and slight graphical issues where models intersect.

I don’t know about everyone else here but just this little taste of Stonehearth has got me drooling. Even with the graphics glitches (Z fighting) and very limited presentation, it looks so nice. I can almost feel how the full game will be when I spin the little square of grass around. I can almost see the hills, forests, and my new little town. Every day gets closer, I haven’t looked forward to Christmas this much since I was 7.

well, that looks like a new one… has anyone else seen this particular dll error?

It’s not in English mind you, so it might be a translation of a current error? What language is that in @samaelll? Polish maybe? Do you know what RegGey might refer to? Although I suppose the rest of the error message is English…

Interesting! Exactly what did you do to prompt this error? Where did it show up?

couldnt dig up much on the dll, but it looks like its only present on XP/7 machines:

advapi32.dll is a part of an advanced API services library supporting numerous APIs including many security and registry calls.

I wonder if it’s a translation error/typo of the same win xp error already reported

Error:Stonehearth.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point RegGetValueA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll.

@samaelll

Looking at the full error dialogue in http://translate.google.com I’ve noticed that the end of the error message you got:

Unable to connect to server. Error: 0x800401F0

If i’m correct and you got your error trying to install the graphic’s test please try the fix at the following Microsoft site:

the game gets really “and i mean REALLY” laggy when i zoom in or out but rotating the camera is not effecting anything and there are weird shadows (square lines)

i provided a link to a screen shot here

ah, excellent. wanted to make sure i wasn’t missing something integral to the app. i am getting 180 fps, but that seems to be limited by something. it holds right at it, with no dips, all smooth. i dont get the yellow border around things though, i wonder if thats an issue…

I open it, the program window appears (fully white) and the cursor loads, then it just shuts itself after about 5 seconds.

No errors, no anything…

Hi All, I’m not sure if this is still relevant, but I’d like to share my findings. I wanted to do so a lot sooner, but I only received my discourse activation mail last night…

I ran the graphics test on two machines, my desktop machine (home built, Xeon E5 2620 6/12, 40GB RAM, crappy old nVidia Geforce 210 1GB, Win8.1) and on my laptop (Alienware M17xR4, i7 3820QM 4/8 32G RAM, Radeon HD 7970M 2GB, Win8.1).

On my laptop it runs great. I do see the discussed z-fighting, but everything else is great. I cannot get it to crash either. Not after resizing, not at full screen (2560x1440). Perfect! I get around 100FPS at the default screen size. Full screen it still runs at 30FPS. My CPU is running at around 30%.

On my desktop the story is different. It also doesn’t crash, but the zooming is slow, to the point where you would think there is no zooming at all. Rotating the scene works great. The figures also animate smoothly. Just after about half a minute there is a slight bit of zoom. The bunnies also show their weird time-travel-hopping. You see them jumping in place, and the next thing you see is they’re a bit further on. On this machine I get ~20FPS at the default screen size, and 10 FPS at fullscreen (1920x1200). The CPU is also running at around 30%.

So the zooming issue doesn’t seem to be completely related to either CPU or GPU as the ongoing animations remain smooth while zooming is quite slow.

It is awesome to actually run a bit of Stonehearth om my own machines though, and I’m sure these issues will be worked out perfectly. As a developer I just know this.

odd… just out of curiosity, have you tried to see if there is a corresponding entry in your application logs…

For those running Win8.1 with an AMD GPU: I had some issues with the Catalist Control Center, and resolved these by installing a beta driver from the AMD website. Now CCC works again, and my FPS went up to 300+ on the default size to 100+ fullscreen (2560x1440). This was on my Alienware laptop, but it might be true for desktop systems also.

The test ran very well on my moddest machine with a GTX 650ti video board. No lag issues at all. Only the over-lapping voxels as others have pointed out.

I have to say I’m blown away by what the hungry modders have done with this simple version of the game. The devs will have some competition it seems. Right off the bat, I’d like to see a mod that adds more ‘life’ to the trees and bushes.

My only disappointment is that it looks very… plain. I guess you can’t get around that where you don’t texture map.

excellent feedback @mderond… :+1:

@NonBritGit… given the very specific intent behind the test, I wouldn’t expect there to be much in the way of eye candy … :stuck_out_tongue:
