The title says it all, and I know there are some requests for something similar in the archives, but I’m not necrobumping a topic that’s almost old enough to name dirt.
I’m suggesting an ability to view individual building layers, something similar to the slice view for terrain. If you build a multi-story home or whatever, there eventually comes a time when you need to swap some items out for better QoL for the Hearthlings. Trying to angle around to see past other objects is a real pain, and very difficult, for making replacements or rearrangements. This is compounded when the building is very deep and you’re having to get into, say, the kitchen of your town hall so you can add some better shelves or storage.
I think the building aspect in general would be greatly improved if we could view buildings floor by floor. Maybe as an option for building vision, with a numbered marker above like the terrain slice has. Something that cuts away slabs/floors/furnishings from anything over it that way you can really see inside the house and adjust things post-build. It would also be a blessing for us mid-build when we have to go back in and tweak before the Hearthlings get the ball rolling.
I’m horrible at forgetting things like lanterns in the process of putting a building together. If I remember before it’s finished, I’ve usually already stuck a floor or roof in the way. Sometimes, it’s really hard to get a good angle going to get a wall lantern in the exact spot I want it. I feel like I have to have the acrobatics skill of Nightwing to get it in place without sticking it to the mountainside a mile away. (Yes, that has happened.)
Just my 2% of a dollar. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I’m looking forward to seeing how much better this game gets as it continues to evolve towards full release.
