The game does not launch, after pressing play, the popup from steam which says the game is launching shows up, after which the play button immediately becomes available again and the game doesnt launch at all.

All the steps from the crash thread have already been tried an bear no succes, so I’m at a bit of a loss here.
Have you tried starting at 32 bits? This solution was the same problem as the previous one. I suggest you look into the forums a little bit:relaxed:
I had this issue a small bit ago and found a way to fix it! Full info here:
But to make life easier, go into your Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth folder and you can either go through the coding/messing with files (long and a little effort) to get the game to run in 32bit or just straight up delete the 64x folder. Deleting the folder is safe and fixes the issue.
The issue is that the 64bit game has an issue with something within the 2020 windows 10 update, I’ve been trying to figure out what is within the 64x folder that disagrees with windows but hasn’t found an answer yet. The difference between 32bit and 64bit is how fast the game lodes things like saves, maps, new game, etc, and that’s all.
I’m having this problem in March 2023–why hasn’t this been fixed. I reloaded Stonehearth after uninstalling from my Steam acccount in 2021. Long long time for the same issue to keep reappearing. Love the game, hate its clunky parts.
The game isn’t being worked on anymore it was abandoned ages/years ago so won’t be fixed.
The only real things that work and update/improve the game is a Mod called the ACE mod where the community update and do their best with the game. Sadly a mod can only do so much and can’t fix all it’s issues.
The company making Stonehearth got brought out. The people who brought them out forced the game to be shut down BUT as scummy as they are, put the game as “full release” despite no updates or anything since.
Actually, 32 bit severely limits how much memory (RAM) can be used for a process, which affects much more than just loading speeds. A lot of people experience constant crashing depending on how many mods they use or how big/complex is their save due to the memory restriction, it doesn’t matter if you have 16gb or 32gb of ram or more, when you run the game on 32bit only a few couple gb is being used. Whenever the game runs out of memory, it crashes.
There’s a way to make the game run on 64bit again which is very simple and only involves downloading a newer version of some DLLs and replacing the ones in the 64bit folder… So I definitely recommend restoring your installation and doing that instead. Unfortunately I’m on the phone and don’t remember the name of the DLLs you need to look for, but our FAQ in the ACE Discord has the download link and instructions.
Another said that was the only real difference and was the one who helped figure out most of the above that i put.
On my last PC downloading the DLLs didnt work at all. Only 32bit and installed the correct ones from the ACE discord. Didnt work.
Got this new pc and seems to have worked but didnt use the discords linked ones personally.
Honestly just a shame devs and such forced to leave the game like it is, had so much potential.
I had the same problem, however i followed exactly what was written in the ACE Discord FAQ and it worked for me. This problem happened when i got a completely new computer recently. Replacing the DLLs only didn’t work in my case, first there is another step, one of them is deleting settings file - check Discord, i don’t remember everything. There was two steps, answered in two questions.
