Something's wrong with me

My two most frequented sites are a www.40kforums.com and Stonehearth discourse. I think a basic old school forum layout works great for 40k due to there being like 15 armies that need their own individual threads.

And discourse works just fine for Stonehearth because everything is under one Topic with broad subtopics.

I’m happy with both… and it keeps things fresh as I switch between the two. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and I’d much rather run a forum game on a traditional Forum, it’d be weird and completely unnecessary on a discourse.
:innocent:

I disagree. Forum games tend to generate a lot of posts (15k for a game that hasn’t even begun) and I prefer Discourse’s organization of posts.

since when did this thread become a discussion/debate about whether a traditional forum is better or worse then the discourse…

When one has an unhealthy obsession with a type of software, they must defend said software against competing wares.

What’s the other 1%?

Linux and all the other non-Mac-non-Windows operating systems out there :stuck_out_tongue: .

please stay on topic people…

is that even possible on the stonehearth discourse?

I use both Mac and Windows frequently, and I must say it really does depend on the task at hand. Neither is objectively better than the other, and anyone who says otherwise typically has little experience in one of the two.

Okay, I’m done.

Please remind me what that was again?

Oh, right.

This about sums it up.

Except twice the discourses = twice the fun wasted time!

On-topicness of Discourse over time, brought to you by Professor Swift_Cube Ph.D Md.

Well, if it truly is exponential decay, at least the on-topicness will never reach zero. Though it would get infinitely close.

Hahahhahaha… @Geoffers747 and @SteveAdamo’s reign of terror has ended! No longer can they lock posts for being off topic, because they will always be near infinitely slightly on topic! Viva la Revolution!

Not true, as I will now demonstrate:

  1. Suppose 0 = entirely on-topic, and 1 = entirely off-topic.
  2. A topic that’s only an infinitely small fraction away from 1 we’ll call 0.999 (because I can’t find a symbol for “recurring” :stuck_out_tongue: ). Let us call this “x”.
  3. Now, x multiplied by 10 gets us 9.999 (again,recurring).
  4. Subtract x from 10x to get 9x… or in numerical terms, 9.999 - 0.999 = 9.0.
  5. So, we have 9x, or 9.0. And if we divide 9 by 9 we get… 1.

Therefore, locking topics for being off-topic is still entirely possible for @SteveAdamo & @Geoffers747 :stuck_out_tongue: .

(On an amusing sidenote, I did like this press release about this…)
