Sir Astrix's Thoughts on R-806

Just a few thoughts on the latest unstable that I wanted to share.

Mod Manager Window

I love that it’s it’s own menu now, and I have to question what’s going to happen with the space on the right? Are we going to get a mod description / image area like many other games, or is it just going to be empty for reasons?

As for how it currently looks, the “Quit To Main Menu” feels…wrong. Like I don’t want to quit, I want to return. On top of that, (in my opinion) I feel it would look better and feel better if it were centered, below the mods list. Call it something like:

  • Reload Stonehearth
  • Return To Main Menu

or just something along those lines.

It's A Brush...But For Paint or Cleaning?

Untitled

The new clear tool looks too much like a paint brush. At first, I honestly didn’t know what it was till I moused over it.

Climbing Ladders

As excited as I was to see this in the notes, I feel it just isn’t right in multiple ways. My first problem is how long the legs are extending. As shown in this pic, the hands are fine, but the bottom foot is extended twice the height of a standard Hearthling, as well as allows 3 rungs on the ladder between the feet. I know it’s a game, but that seems a little excessive, especially when combined with their height.

Perosnally, I think the leg length should be reduced to a quarter or a third of what it is now.

Crafting Gold Value

I like this, but I feel the appeal should be above the gold value. IDK, just doesn’t feel right as is…

Did You Know That the Bird is the Word?

I know this isn’t an R-806 SPECIFIC thing, but the bird’s angle just seem out of place compared to when the Harold shows up.

I agree with the ladder animation and the gold/appeal order. I just watched the most recent stream, and I also find it a liittle odd that they stretch their hands out far beyond the ladder if they have reached the top.

Since I don’t have the unstable branch, what does the brush do?

Looks like a broom to clean up tasks ya don’t want cluttering your screen…but that could just be me. If that is supposed to be a broom, maybe chippin’ a voxel or three off the outer corners would make it more broom like and less brush like. Not gonna lie though, the first time I saw it I was like “oooh we can churn butter now!”

I also agree about appeal being on top, just seems like it would feel better.

Looks like a butter churn to me. Doesn’t make any real sense but hey, first associations, eh?

Haha, jinx!

My first association with the cancel tasks command would definitely be blocking/stopping existing commands, not sweeping/brushing them.
