Shepherd Improvements

I do hope I am not repeating suggestions already made, I tried to look for similar forumposts but forums tend to give me information overload blindness, if similar suggestions have already been made I apologise for the reduncy of my thread!

I’ve started to notice that my town is slowly being drowned in wool and eggs. (not mention the amount of already readily available pelts and jerky) I would really like to see some changes made to the shephard and/or pastures to limit this.

My suggestion would be either the ability to set a limit on how much wool/eggs there can be in the town inventory before a shepherd stops shearing his sheep/chickens stop laying eggs (although that would not be very realistic) or otherwise atleast be able to set a limit to the amount of animals a pasture will hold (one lower than the actual limit) with an automatic culling of the herd/flock feature once such a set amount is reached.

Cheers!

[/quote]This. So much this.

Stonehearth isn’t supposed to be intensely micro-managey but from what I’ve heard the shepherds kind of are. Being able to give them a simple instruction like this would still give you control - and let you take more control on reducing your populations if need be - while not forcing you to do everything yourself.

limiting the amount of animals under each Shepherd would be amazing or if you get large enough assign one animal to each shepherd ( for larger towns). then also killing off any extra ones by killing the oldest one of that kind.
but I think the key to this is also fixing the animals opening their own gates.

Just want to add my vote to pushing this idea! The shepherd should auto harvest one animal from a pen whenever that pen reaches its maximum, so long as the pen has a max of more than two. All of the other jobs are pretty much on auto pilot, but for shepherds you have to keep checking your pens and manually harvesting. its too much micro.

As for managing the overflow of goods, I think this is unnecessary. Just like with farmers harvesting a larger than needed supply of food, you can just ship these off to the merchant with a few easy clicks.
