Right Now Orders vs Maintain Orders

When placing a list of orders for your crafter to follow, it’d be nice if the “Craft Right Now” orders automatically positioned themselves in line, but in order, before the “Maintain” orders. That way you can make sure you always have a stock of needed items on hand, but at the same time, can quickly produce one-off items.

It’s these simple but major quality-of-life suggestions that I get most excited for. I’d never thought of it, but now I NEED THIS NOW! :jubilant:

Yes, a thousand times. Please make this happen.

How would this feature interact with auto crafting for buildings?

Those are single “Right Now” orders. So they’d go to the lists the same ways as if you told the crafter to make the doors and windows.

As long as manually queued ‘right now’ orders take precedence, that sounds like it would work well.

Personally, I would like to be able to choose to put certain orders either “always on the top” or “always on the bottom”. There are a few orders that I want to be kept full at all times (and so would stay at the top), but most other maintained orders are like mentioned in the above posts and can go at the bottom.

I agree with this. I always make piles of raw resources to save space, and convert all vegetables to cookery whenever possible. To do that, put massive orders in the qeue. It would be nice if I could put every other crafting order in front, so that craters do not remake the pile I just harvested for other things, and start making said other things.

Maybe something in the UI that says: prioritize/qeue/maintain crafting order

Completely agree. This would be such a big life improvement. I often have the more useless crafters producing things to sell (mason crafting bird baths/totems, potter crafting vases etc) just to get more value of a surplus of resources. Having to move these to the bottom of the queue every time I order a house to be build or want some other things crafted, gets tedious really fast. The best implementation I can thnk of is insteead of the current one column queue, having two columns shown directly next to each other, with added items getting added to the first column, and then being able to manually move them to the low priority column 2 (for both maintain and low order make items).

Maybe have 2 tabs for the crafting queue on the side. One for maintained items, one for immediate crafting with immediate crafted items taking top priority. Having it as two tabs would make it less cluttered looking as well

To be fair I’d be in favor of tabs for different crafting benches but that might just be me, that way mods could also be kept more self contained if they make themselves a crafting bench.
