Replace with better quality [Buildings]

Something that’s a bit annoying to be is that when you design a house and use standard windows and the carpenter gets the crafting mission and he crafts a bunch of finer quality items they don’t get enough of the standard none fine quality items so buildings lacks decorations to be placed.
It’s currently very weird how it works and many times i think that having a lower skilled carpenter might get what i design done better because he’s not to good at doing them so he does better for the house

Quality of Decoration Used
I would love if either you can select a thing while designing a house “Allow Better Quality” and “Allow Lower Quality” , “Allow any Quality” for the decorations.

Upgrade House
Perhaps even add an option when a house is done that you can click [X] Upgrade House with Higher Quality Decorations and then your hearthlings will replace anything they find in the storage that has better quality and you could also cancel perhaps this at anytime or keep it active forever for improvements

What do you guys think?
Any suggestions you would like to add?

I’m still confused on how it works. Sometimes I design a build and they use any item no matter the quality, sometimes they do not.

Really?
I have not noticed this but that could be the case. Many times they can stop because having to good items for my house only

I completely agree with you idea! Often i play with main purpose - high mood of peoples. In this case - ability to create greater house without rebuilding - great thing.

It would be lovely if individual objects also had a “replace with better” button (including windows and doors). When clicked, it would either tell you there’s no available better quality item, or, if there is, a hearthling would head out to replace that one item.

Edit: It could also gray out the button if no item is available.

That’s a nice idea for even more exact choices when that’s needed

What if there was a decorations/ workshops page on the building where it would show all the things with higher qualities that are touching the building.

you could then interact with them from there without clicking each one individually

Love everything about this thread! I have all the same frustrations and had very similar ideas on what would be nice to deal with them.

I was literally just thinking about this but I have a rather different take on it…

I was thinking of having the master crafters get the ability to passively go around and upgrade the quality of buildings when there is nothing in queue left for them to create. so they would wander around town looking for low quality things they can upgrade. This would (currently) be for the Mason, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Weaver, Potter as they would encompass all the craftable furniture, workbenches, and decorations.

This function would take priority potentially below mining/building/crafting and above gathering and hauling.

Alternatively to have a new class called the Artificier (or something like that) who goes around town inspecting objects and marking them for upgrade that the proper class would come and take care of. Along with other potentialy wealth-related things a class like that could take care of. Like trade with goblins? Something silly?

What do you guys think?
