Reembarkment, what class would you choose?

Back to work! compliments of @Kodi4444. Spares ya having to tie up another hearthling with a class, but haven’t used it so no clue how effective it is.

Shepherd, Engineer, Blacksmith all seem like great choices for RC re-embark. Granted if the Engineer + turrets boost your town defense too much it could also cause problems quickly (especially on Hard mode). In that case I’d opt for a Cook that has leveled farmer fully. That way I can plant all the plants I’ll need for Shepherd feed and have a steady source of wood for the Blacksmith and Carpenter. Carpenter would be a nice option too, but I figure the leveled Blacksmith can make a saw, vaults, weapons/armor.

Shepherd, Blacksmith, and either Potter or Knight. Though I have a really good worker that might get the cut

I allow myself to argue. If you have a shepherd at level 6, who will cook food for his lambs? After all, you first need to grow a plant, and then make it? The effectiveness of the rapid acquisition of a shepherd without a cook and high lvl farmer is lost. And why do you need a knight when there is a blacksmith who can make a talisman for him (and there will be many knights)?

That’s actually a fairly reasonable point, perhaps it would be better to focus all 3 on food and have a high level farmer, shepherd and cook, rather than split between a focus of crafting, military and food.
I haven’t made it to the 2nd playthrough, is it a harder difficulty?

My biggest issue is that it always takes me ages to get a steady supply of leather because you have to wait until farmer gets to level 2 before you can get consistent supply of materials for the weaver, that’s the main reason why I would want a shepherd.
But then you have only 2 other workers, 1 would have to be a carpenter and the other a soldier I suppose, it doesn’t really leave a lot of room for increasing that city value.
Maybe this is more complicated than I thought it would be.

The reason for a knight instead of blacksmith is that the knight would be level 6 fully equipped. While with the blacksmith you would need to first acquire the resources, then craft a talisman, then promote someone to footman (not knight), evolve him, then promote him to knight, then evolve him again, then craft all his equips and only then you would have the same knight.

A blacksmith would only be a better option if you want it for something else instead of to build a new knight.

At the moment i am focusing on a blacksmith, engineer and an archer. Hopefully that combo will be able to set up security while evolving the new settlement?

But you don’t really need a knight to whack some goblins at the start.

If you already have a level 6 blacksmith at hand, crafting the gear is like the easiest thing (acquiring some materials isn’t very hard). Plus, since combat classes level quickly, getting a footman ready shouldn’t take long.

I know, I actually would not bring combat classes, it was a response to above comments. If I were to bring defense, it would be an engineer, people really underestimate it usefulness.

And about combat leveling fast, that only happens for later recruits, as the enemies are stronger and give way more xp with no risk for the low level recruit. The first soldier takes a lot of time to evolve.

I would avoid combat classes at the outset. It strengthens the village so that attacks are stronger from the outset. I’d rather just take a newbie and promote him up… Or, alternatively, have a multi-classed Knight incognito as a different class. Once the village is up and stable, then he can whip out his sword and shield to get to his/her kind of work.

My current trio that wanders around founding villages would be a maxed out farmer/cook, a potter/mason/blacksmith/herbalist, and a potter/mason/engineer/footman. I’m currently in the process of getting one skilled up as a carpenter as well.

That’s brilliant!

Out of curiosity does military strength only scale with active classes? Do Engineers or turrets count towards it as well?

I can confirm that turrets count toward it. Found out the hard way. Not sure about the engineer class counting toward it though.
